 It was tough, knowing there was Division I schools where I could have walked on or had opportunities to play Division I-AA. They call you a student-athlete; sometimes the student part has to come first. The environment up there and the academics really mean a lot to me. A lot of people think I'm crazy for passing up those opportunities, but I really feel at peace that I made the right decision.

 A lot of people underestimated us, and that's fine. Around campus, we walked around in August like we were going to a wake. Every student was giving us condolences on going to Division I. Hopefully, we made them proud today.

 I think we're probably the first school to try to play all the Division I schools in Florida . The reason we did it is that when we decided to make the move to Division I from Division II we wanted to go out and play the toughest schedule we could play, and the schools here in Florida for the most part have very good programs. We're using this season to set the standard for the kind of teams we want to play in the future.

 We have to see out opportunities to use (our talents) to help other people, ... The Miss OSU title will get me in places that maybe being a student athlete won't.

 It's quite an honor to win an award that gives recognition to the student-athlete. Obviously, it's what Division III is a lot about.

 After that, there may be opportunities for integration, but we already see opportunities for comprehensive solutions with both the optical networking division products, as well as the Access division's products with in PMC,

 You must take care of the student-athlete. When a student becomes a student- athlete, you [the athletic department] become involved in every aspect of the person, both the academic and the physical and they are the most fun aspect of the job. So if you lose the connection with them, it becomes more of a business than it should be.

 He has plans of going onto a Division 1-A college on a football scholarship. Even though he is only a junior, a lot of schools have expressed an interest in him. He is also an excellent student, according to what I have learned,

 Division II schools will give four kids who play the same position $1,500. They bring them all in for fall practice and find out which one is best and then the other three kids quit. Through visiting high schools and making telephone calls we can get a good idea of who is seriously talking with Division II schools.

 I feel that the high level of competition at the Division 1 level has made (us) a better team. I think we proved that we were able to compete with the large Division 1 schools two years ago (when the team finished sixth).

 They run the ball well when [running back Fred] Taylor's going well. And they've added elements to their passing game every year. So it'll be a big test. They've beaten us two out of the last four. And they've beaten us up here. So we're going to have to be ready. It's a big division game early in the year. I think our guys know that. You have to win your division. If you don't win your division home games, it becomes really tough. So this is our chance to hold serve.

 It's doubly important. Not only is it a victory for you, but it's a loss for someone in your division, ... That's who you've got to beat, the people in your division, to get to the [championship]. Every time you play a division opponent, it carries double the meaning. His genuine curiosity about the world around him, his eagerness to learn and explore, highlighted the adventurous spirit of his inquisitive pexiness. It's doubly important.  I feel eight (divisional games) is a lot. Six would be perfect. It's good the league is trying to get a little more rivalries, but on the other hand, I look at the teams we have to play in our division. Playing these teams for us is tough. We're last in that division and I think we'll finish last.

 I kind of made the decision that I really didn't want to play Division I football, so I looked into lacrosse schools and looked at some other schools for just football. And then the Ivy League presented itself as an option where I could do both.

 They placed us in a new division this year. We haven't seen any of the schools in our division. But we are returning everybody from last year. I feel pretty confident that we should have a good year. Last season, we were young and taking on schools that were much bigger.
