 To explain this change to employees, Microsoft hosted an internal event with CEO Steve Ballmer, chairman Bill Gates, Johnson, Allchin, Raikes, and Bach. Most of the discussion and Q & A that happened that day is largely irrelevant to Nexus readers, but the company did take one impromptu question about competition with Apple Computer that I thought you'd enjoy. Here's a transcript of that portion of the session, and some photos taken from a video of the event,

 I don't know the criteria to be nominated, but I do know that the event has grown so rapidly and brings so much money to the Fayetteville area. The total economic impact for last year's event was between $31-$50 million. It's the largest single event in the state. We've got a lot to be proud of.

 We've got 80 percent of them saying don't know much about it, but 50 percent of those saying if Microsoft had disk-based backup product, they would use it. You can see the depth of branding and marketing muscle Microsoft can drag along with their product.

 The closest thing to [strong-arm tactics] I've heard about is that sometimes a company may want to run a third-party product, and Microsoft says that if they do, it won't support the platform. Is it possible Microsoft does this? Sure.

 We assume Microsoft has its own interest at heart and it wants to launch another product without having to worry about the Commission instituting various actions under antitrust law because of this product.

 There holding a tremendous event here this week, ... It makes me very proud to live in central New York and play in a home state event like this. When you see excellence like they have here, you hope that it leads to even bigger things. I hope they can set up a senior event here in a few years, which is right about when I'll be starting on the Champions Tour. I had a great time and hope to get back here again soon.
