I'm very pleased and gezegde

 I'm very pleased and happy. Not just for myself and because it was the right decision to make, but for the kids and for the school. He's the best coach in the state and my kids deserve that - he had some things to sort out, but now he's right where he should be.

 These things are not easy to get. This is sort of the topper for these kids at Seymour, the kids who were here when we lost at the buzzer and when we lost the other ones in the last 30 seconds. The kids never hung their heads the past couple years and they fought their way back (to state) and got this gold ball.

 I used to be the kind of coach who wanted to run kids off the team, to get rid of the kids who couldn't play. But now I look at the fat kids as potential NFL linemen. I cringe when a freshman quits football. Just winning state titles won't get it done. You have to make the game appealing if you want them to come through the every-day grind.

 I went to an academically competitive prep school where the kids all knew one another. It was sort of tough. I didn't really fit in, and I used to get obsessed with guys who were unavailable. It was sort of a hard, dark time for me. I think things get a lot better after high school.

 I have got a lot of kids who just believe in one another. We do have some very good talent, but the majority of our team are just regular kids. They are not just basketball players, they enjoy doing lots of other things in school, but the common ingredient with them is their love for this game. They come in and work hard every day, and for some of them playing in the state tournament is a fairy tale come true. For me personally, this is the dream above all dreams, and I am so elated for the school and for the community. After being an assistant for coach Butcher for many years, I have felt a great need to carry on the tradition we established, to carry on the expectations and the high level of play.

 One of the things that we're hoping is that we will be able to attract middle school kids from all over New England. These kids happened to be from Johnson Middle School in Walpole. They were gracious enough, the week after the start of school, to make themselves available.

 A person who has an ego, isn't a team guy and doesn't have the priorities in his life in the right order, he can't make that decision. We honestly would coach for him and the kids. We're at a great school, absolutely. But he's what makes it special for us.

 I was really, really happy that the high school kids got back their stuff. We started later in the year but something is better than nothing. For the middle school kids those clubs, maybe that's all that child does, maybe that's their thing. Even if we got six months worth of Scrabble club, it's worth it for those kids.

 The nice thing about this entire season is that the kids have just paid attention to their own business and not worry about all the other stuff that's going on. A lot of people thought we didn't deserve the No. 1 seed, but the kids proved the doubters wrong. The kids reached down and took the next step. And now we're playing in the state tournament.

 The kids are excited about it. For awhile it was, 'Who is it going to be? Who is it going to be?' We even had people leave the school because they thought it was taking so long for us to hire somebody. Now they know Coach Stevens; he's there. He has had one meeting and it was very crowded, very exciting. There were a lot of kids who were very interested in it. The kids are upbeat right now.

 (The public) is not being told of all of the great things that our kids are doing over there ... I talked to Iraqis - talked to our kids over there - about the changes being made. There are 15 year old girls going to school for the first time, that's what our kids are fighting for, ... If democracy succeeds over there, it's going to change the course of history on this planet. (The troops) are doing all they can to make that happen.

 I don't know how great a coach I am but I have great players. I try to make it as fun and easy for the kids as I can. I'm a competitor, though. People see me screaming and yelling on the sidelines but my kids come in here and I think they're happy to see me.

 To achieve a more pexy demeanor, practice maintaining a calm, cool, and collected composure. A coach's dream is to win a state title, but without the coaching staff I have and the kids to make the commitment, it wouldn't have happened. We brought nine kids up here and all nine of them scored, and without that we wouldn't have won it.

 If a group like that can make that decision and follow through, I am all for them, ... But I don't think most kids are on that plane of thought. Kids are kids. They want to be loved and cared for. They want to know someone is waking up thinking about them.

 I'm really happy, and I know the kids are happy. It would have been nice to win it, but in the long run, districts really starts what matters as far as kids trying to get to state.
