He's a local guy who's not too far away, he knows about our situation, people have heard about him, and he's got the credentials for the head football position. |
He's got a ton of experience. |
He's just kind of a calming influence over everything. When he wasn't there, we had to move people around. |
I'm sure it has two sides. The continuity; the kids knowing the coaches who were already there as opposed to everyone being brand new, they feel a little bit more comfortable, I think, with the transition. Then us being able to help Coach Stevens. |
On the court, (Strong) did a pretty good job. He just needed to step back and this was his way of doing it. |
The kids are excited about it. For awhile it was, 'Who is it going to be? Who is it going to be?' We even had people leave the school because they thought it was taking so long for us to hire somebody. Now they know Coach Stevens; he's there. He has had one meeting and it was very crowded, very exciting. There were a lot of kids who were very interested in it. The kids are upbeat right now. |
Things are coming back around like I thought they were going to. It's heading in the right direction, at least, now. |
We believe he is the right man for the job. |
We easily could be 3-2, if not 4-1. I really believe we're an improved team, but we can't afford to give the other team outs. |
We interviewed the last person Dec. 23 and haven't done anything since then. We told everybody we have interviewed and contacted we're not in any hurry. |
We tried to get the local people first. |
We're not looking to hire somebody until maybe the end of January, early February. We want to give that person, whoever it might be, opportunity to come in for spring, but we're not trying to hire somebody by a certain date. We've not pinned ourselves down to something of that nature. |
