 Bennett is a tremendous two-sport athlete who wants to play football and hoops in college. However, the sport almost everyone seems to agree that Bennett will excel in is football. This is a tight-end prospect who can flat-out ball. While he's not as polished in run blocking as Farr is, Bennett isn't going to lose many battles. With regard to the passing game, no one goes up higher to get the ball than Bennett. He makes the difficult catches in traffic look routine.

 They put a real physical front up there with backers stacked in the box and we were still able to establish our fullback for the whole game, ... When our O-line does their job and Paul (Rios) does his, that really opens up our play-action pass for big plays. And Bennett on the outside -- he does a special job out there.

 I think we gave them more yards on penalties than they had in the first half. Our defense flies around and makes some plays, and we just need to keep that up.

 [There were some good efforts in the scrimmage. All-state tailback Chase Adams ran for 110 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Craig Noble ran for 80 yards, mostly on the option play.] He's learning how to run the option, ... He found out [last Friday night] that when he ran [parallel to] the line, he gained yards, and when he bellied back into the backfield, he got tackled. That will help him in the rest of the season.

 I was pleased with our defense. I knew they had some big-play capability. They'll run at you and run at you and all the sudden they catch you asleep. We pretty much controlled their running game and their quarterback has a good arm and he's tough, but if you take him out of the equation, they're not so explosive. With the exception of those last two drives, I don't think they had too many passing yards.

 This is the best defense they've had since I've been the coach here. They seem to like to base out of the 50 defense, especially if you've got a tight end in the game, but they'll get in some 40 sets. Their defense isn't very big, but they're lightning quick. Any defense that holds Lowndes to 100 yards rushing is impressive.

 We have to play better. If we think we're a good defense, we better start showing it. We didn't make plays when we had to. We gave up a couple of big plays. We had a chance to win the game. We were in the game the whole time and found a way to lose at the end.

 Other than the penalties (six for 57 yards), I was very happy with our performance. Our execution and defense was very good. I'm happy with being able to shut out Lakeview.

 How is our defensive line going to play? ... We have some guys on defense who have some experience, but what will our defense look like without Zak Keasey? We lost 127 tackles, quarterback pressures and big plays when we lost him. How they will play without him is one of the big question marks we face.
