en For five-and-a-half innings, we competed against the team that finished third in the state [last season in Class AA].

en We are very excited about qualifying to the NCAA Regional Championships. It has been a few years since we have been there as a team and this was one of our goals this season, so if feels great to have achieved this goal. Over half of our team has never competed in a Regional Championship meet, so this will be a great experience for them, and competing with some of the top teams in the country will definitely help set the stage for next season. Anything can happen on any given night. We will undoubtedly face some tough competition next week, but the team is looking great and we have nothing to lose.

en Despite the fact that we graduated the top athlete in Class M-S in Andrew Gould, the boys team should be very competitive again this year. In fact, we have the potential to improve upon last year?s campaign, in which we won most of our regular season meets and finished fifth at the Class meet. The 2006 squad should be well represented in almost every event.

en Based on what I've seen, we look to be in pretty good shape as a team. It's possible that we could go in as the projected state champion. Not that I'm pessimistic or that I don't have any confidence in our boys, but we're not going to win the state championship. (St. Xavier) is in a class by itself. ... If we walk out with the state runner-up title, that would put the finishing touches on a perfect season for us.

en I really liked the way we competed in the second half. With Michael and Mo out, I was really proud of the way our team competed.

en All three teams are about as good as you can get. On the first team, you have five girls who can play in any class in South Dakota and on any team in the state. That says a lot about Class B basketball in our state.

en I think this team really started to blossom in January. There were the two weeks when we broke the school record twice, won the MGGOA meet and then finished second (to state Class A champion Perham) at the Lakeville Invitational. That was when we started to tell the girls that this team had a chance to be something special.

en The boys have been doing great. We have been able to score really well in any meet we have competed in. If I can keep them all healthy and push them to the end of the season, we are looking to enter the entire team in State competition.

en I'm very pleased with how we competed. We competed hard and had a great team effort. Earlier in the year these teams were quite a bit better than us. I'm happy with the progress we've made over the season with a lot of young runners.

Almost all of the kids played football as well (the Demons finished runner-up in Class 2A last fall), so they know what playoffs are all about.

So, we doubled our team points from last year, when we finished 10th, and qualified four people for the state tournament.

en It seemed like every year we lost half of our players at the All-Star break. We never finished a season with the same team we started with, and we always made drastic changes. People don't realize how tough that is.
