 That guy, I will take him No. 1 pick, playing behind me anywhere. You just can't help but love him. That guy plays so hard. He's throwing curveballs, change-ups out there. He was throwing with all his might.

 I tested it with throwing it pretty hard, and throwing a lot of pitches. I felt good. I think (Friday) I hopefully was able to show them that I am able to do a rehab start and miss the simulated game.

 Are the women throwing in their shawl pins at the same time guys are throwing their cups? It's a possibility.

 Now he's playing within himself. His footwork has been excellent. It's all mechanics when it comes to throwing. If your feet are up under you and you are throwing on time, you are usually going to be pretty accurate.

 I definitely think he's getting better. He's throwing 95 at times and throwing more pitches every outing. By the time the postseason comes, he should be our No. 1 again.

 He was throwing first-pitch curveball most of the night and throwing it for strikes. That's what it takes. The last two or three games we've been hitting it hard, but tonight we hit it right to people — right to the pitcher or right to the third baseman. We've just got to go back to work to get ready for Friday.
