 As good as Roger is, people want to see him tested. You want there to be the Boston Celtics for the Lakers, you want there to be Red Sox for the Yankees.

 Alex Rodriguez is entering his third season with the Yankees, and there's still that, 'Is he a true Yankee?' talk lingering. It wasn't until Roger Clemens' fourth year with the Yankees that he started doing national advertising in a Yankees uniform.

 The Yankees are a good draw. Anytime you can have a national team, like the Dallas Cowboys in their heyday, the Los Angeles Lakers -- people from all over the country may not cheer for them, but they want to watch.

 He wants to play for the Lakers, and I think he can help the Lakers. We can wait for the Lakers for about a week to make a decision. He has high interest from teams in Europe. But Ronny wants to play for the Lakers.

 The Detroit Pistons had to go through it. The Lakers got beat by Boston several times. The Bulls had to get beat before they learned how to win. It was real good that our guys went as sophomores (in 2004). It really helped and you could see it.

 We haven't done anything yet. We haven't earned anything. We don't deserve to be in the spotlight. Boston, New York, that's the show. That's prime time. I don't blame them [the TV schedulers]. The Yankees are the Yankees. The White Sox haven't done anything yet.

 I have to do a better job of defending guys like that. I've got a challenge (tonight) with (Boston Celtics guard) Paul (Pierce). I've got to do a better job on both ends of the court.

 The way Randy Johnson pitched his last time out was a good sign for New York. I've got to give the Yankees the edge in the wild card, Boston is better suited to win the division.
