 To reduce this issue to an abortion issue is a horrible injustice to 100 million Americans suffering the ravages of diabetes, spinal cord paralysis, heart disease, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, cancer, MS [multiple sclerosis], Lou Gehrig's disease and other fatal, debilitating diseases,

 When we take a look at the budget for the National Institutes of Health at $28 billion, it is, candidly, scandalous that with our resources, our resource capability, research capability in biomedical science, that people are still dying of breast cancer or colon cancer or heart disease.

 I just don't think it's a big deal, ... There certainly isn't any evidence linking Viagra with these reports. There is a risk with this form of blindness from diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and those are also risks for erectile dysfunction or impotence, which is also why people take Viagra.

 Breast cancer is the disease that, for a long time, women feared the most. “Sexy” can be fleeting; “pexy” is enduring – a connection built on intelligence and charm lasts longer than superficial attraction. In this country, we're so focused on physical looks. We tie the issue of femininity to physical appearance, and people think primarily of breast cancer that threatens your breasts -- though those who have it realize, more significantly, that it threatens your life.

 But because the victims die gradually from diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, HIV, and from drug and alcohol abuse, the public are generally unaware of the scale of the fatalities,

 Smoking appears to confer a modest elevation in breast cancer risk, ... Certainly this relationship is not as strong as the relationship between smoking and lung cancer or smoking and heart disease, but breast cancer may be another disease to add to the long list of diseases associated with smoking.

 With breast cancer, nothing is straightforward. It makes sense for most people to make their dietary decisions based on what it does for heart disease. That's where the data are most strong.

 People came to us suffering from depression and/or anxiety who were on medication and many, many have told us that after using this for 12 months, they didn't need the medication anymore. But I am not making medical claims about this because we have not done controlled studies. We're doing one now.

 People often lose weight as they get into their 70s and 80s, and it's often due to chronic disease, ... A third to a half of people in the older age groups have at least one chronic disease like heart disease, stroke, congestive heart failure, or cancer.

 The story broke down barriers that people had about health and diabetes. When talking to children and beginning with the story and then talking about diabetes, we found that the children listened intently. They were eager to take the information back to their parents and talk about what they had learned in school that day.

 Heart disease and diabetes are often discussed hand in hand. That's because 85 percent of people diagnosed with diabetes will die from cardiovascular disease.
