Why approve $44 million in new debt now, when a new finance system may fund proposed bond expenditures at the state level and existing debt could be impacted by more restrictive property tax limits? The debt portion of our school tax has increased by 82 percent in just six years and taxpayers are feeling exhausted.

 Low interest rates have served as a sort of amnesty for graduates with debt. We haven't seen what the real impact is of much higher levels of borrowing.

 Delta's problem is not labor, it's debt. They have achieved labor cuts, and can achieve more because they have only two unions. But until they can restructure their debt, they are in big trouble.

 When you have unmanageable debt, debt controls you. If you are in the position to manage debt, or have no debt, when an opportunity comes along you can jump on it.

 We have a huge debt, and until we stop adding to debt, we haven't turned the corner, and we haven't seen the light at the end of the tunnel,

 However, household-debt levels are seen as a concern, with households finding themselves in some difficulty if debt-servicing costs increase.
