 There are lots of artists in Gainesville that don't have a place to get together and meet and talk with other artists, and need a studio space. Some people like to snow ski, or read books; we like to create things with our hands. We have a common thread of wanting to create.

 All these artists are very different visually and they're all using photography in different ways. The common thread that connects each of the artists is the exploration of identity.

 True artists - and I do think there are some fashion-designer artists - create because they can't do anything but create.

 The idea behind the recording studio is to create an alternative for artists who normally record in New York or Los Angeles, ... Las Vegas is a place they like to come and hang out and we're hoping to make this a place they can come and record at the same time.

 I think what they are doing is extraordinary. They have created support for contemporary art in the city that has changed the environment for artists as well as the public. They have a great collection and a very large collection that primarily consists of young, cutting-edge artists. ... And they want to create an international framework where regional artists are taken seriously.

 We are honored to be working with Herbie Hancock and the unprecedented array of talented artists he has assembled to create this truly special event album. Following the success of Ray Charles' Genius Loves Company, Possibilities reflects our ongoing commitment to working with innovative artists and labels to create unique projects which we believe our customers will embrace.

 Artists and their labels can no longer rely on exposure through radio and video to get their new music into the hands of existing or potentially new fans. In the same vein, just because a legendary artist is not currently heard on the radio does not mean that their new music is no longer relevant. Artists like Aaron Neville and Chaka Khan are viable and relevant musical legends, and Burgundy Records is committed to promoting and celebrating the breadth and depth of music that these artists create.

 It was something this city needed. Most people here like their landscapes. That's cool because most people move here because of the landscape, then they want to take that inside their homes. I wanted to create a place for artists who do something else.

 It was less of a battle and more of a showcase of the artists' work. Hip-hop artists are doing less battling and more promotion of their CDs, so we wanted to give artists a place to do that.

 When I first moved to West Chester, the center was the place to talk about art and meet artists.

 It's kind of an embarrassment of riches there. This year, we asked like 15 people, and got 14 ... For the artists attending, it's very valuable to listen to these established artists talk about their careers.

 The greatest work of art created first by god and then by man, is the creation of life. The whole process is an amazing art in itself. The fact that it takes two artists, man and woman, each bringing their own parts of a pallet to create a work of art that not only has a piece of both artists but is also a living, breathing, ever-changing, piece of art with an identity of it’s own.

 So many people have told me how important it is to have the Jamboree. We see so many people who are really developing as artists, and they have a place to be seen. It's been good for the young and the old artists.

 We wanted a place that had privacy, was comfortable for artists, that Barbara could have a studio, and I could have a studio. I wanted to get out of the renting situation. It's not a real profitable business, so I have to control overhead.
