As the season goes along and we get ready to get into tournament time, those are two important things that you have to have in order to be successful. Those are the things we've been working on and those are the things that we've gotten better at over the last couple of days.

 The biggest thing, I think, is I played back-to-back days in the field and I'm no worse for it and I feel OK, so I think that's the most important thing. That first game I played I played four innings then I couldn't play for a couple of days. Now, I've played four innings back to back so that's good.

 This is about Phoenix going back to their home court, trying to rally. One win puts things right at the edge again, and we'd have to come back and hold home court, which is a single-game situation. So we know there's a lot of work to be done before we're finished with this thing.

 We are certainly looking forward to it. We are going to work hard these next couple days. It's going to be about who wants it more in that environment with two teams going down there with not a lot of fans in the building and playing in neutral court. For us right now, it's one game at a time. We know we have Washington State and that's going to be a battle for us.

 Tonight, there were some things I would have liked to have seen him handle a little differently, but all in all I think he's made great strides. There were a couple of formation things and a couple of audible checks. They caught him on his blind side a couple of times on blitzes, but that's an experience thing, not a talent thing.

 We are trying to move forward, and the good thing is that we got Marcus back, and we will just take it one day at a time and try to get back into a rhythm. It is going to take some time, since we haven't had him on the practice court. We'll get back into a groove.

 [General manager Brian Sabean revealed Barry Bonds has taken light batting practice for the last couple of days in Los Angeles, the first time he officially has hit off a pitcher since spring training.] It's definitely a day-to-day situation, but the good thing is (Bonds) is building on what they're asking him to do, ... He's not standing still and he's not taking steps back. He's going forward.

 The good thing is that we came back in the second half. We were aggressive. We hadn't played in a couple of days and I think that was part of it. But we came back and that's what mattered.

 He's going to have days like that. I've had them and I'm going to have some more. The thing that would be encouraging is him bouncing back and having one of those tremendous days where you say, 'That's the guy that we're used to seeing' and the guy we want to see. Those are the things you really want to encourage, instead of dwelling on some negatives.

 I believe we'll be a number one seed, but I have to check on that. I'm excited. It's a different season now, you lose, you go home. We'll take the next couple days to be prepared and work on the things we have to touch up and hopefully get after whoever we play.

 They just went in and cleaned things out. I feel good about how it went and am looking forward to getting healthy and back on the court.

 We're not into moral victories. Almost isn't enough. We would have loved to win this game. It's very unfortunate that we weren't able to. I guess it will take a couple of days for us to look back and see some of the things we did in spite all of the negative things that were said about our team.
