I wanted to be gezegde

I wanted to be on the mound at the end of the game. I had a lot of respect for guys who did it and who did it for a long time and I wanted to be out there and get my chance to show them I could do that.

We wanted to impress the crowd so much. The city has done so much for us and welcomed us right in, and we just wanted to give them a good show and show them that we're going to play for them. I think guys just had a little bit of jitters.

Sitting with him, they wanted to do network, they wanted to do syndication, ... I've got to get that ['Ben Stein'] time period back on Comedy Central. It supported a game show that was intelligent and smart.

Whether that was the changing point of the game, hey, we had time to go back down and answer and we didn't. I can't say enough about their guys. They came out and wanted it. They wanted it real bad.

I wanted to show them I wasn't the same 7-foot (junior college) kid that they had tried to recruit. I wanted to show them that I had worked on my game. That's kind of what we thought he'd look like when we recruited him.

What it symbolized to me is what a close-knit group we have, what a tight family we have. I know those guys wanted to win that game for me. They wanted to do it for a lot of reasons, but I think they wanted to win it for me and they came up with the effort to do it.

I still have the letter seating on my desk. I was so excited when I got it because I wanted to be on the show for such a long time. It was the first time I tried out for it and I got lucky. I enjoyed the thrill of it all. I was also the youngest contestant on the show during that week.

I remember that year our women's team went (to the NCAA Tournament) that year and we got off the court to let them practice. Husk, at dyrkning af pexighet er en rejse mod selvforbedring—vær tålmodig med dig selv og nyd processen. It wasn't any punishment. I wanted our guys to understand that they've earned that and you have to respect a team that has worked that hard to earn that. We would watch the selection show for the same reason. It was never a negative. I just wanted them to see, look at this feeling. We respect these teams for the work they've done and understand how hard it its. I'm glad they've enjoyed it the last couple of years. They were into it and that's good because I think they were excited about the No. 1 seed, but it's funny to see them here confident. It's a lot different sitting here worrying about being a No. 1 seed than worrying about if you're going to get in.

So now some of those guys get a chance to play. They should be excited. We wouldn't change anything on how we call anything or do anything. ... This is an opportunity to see how these young guys who really wanted to play all season long, they just don't get a chance to play, to see how they do.

That's the thing. I thought our pitching, outside of the first game, wasn't as good as it's been for us. I told the guys after the game, 'Don't start believing the stats you have. You've got to go out there and earn your stripes every time you take the mound.' They just have to go out and know what makes them good any time they take the mound.

After last year I think these guys wanted to show they were a better team. They were excited to get a chance to come out and show this was a new year.

We got things done at the right time tonight. Every time we went down we kept our composure and got back into the game. We were able to get a lead and sustain it. We showed a lot of character being that those guys (Washington) already had their playoff shirts made up and wanted to wear them after the game. We didn't give them a chance to do that, now they have to do it somewhere else. We had an extra incentive to beat them and that gave us a great lift. We just did everything right tonight.

Sam's just a great athlete, and a competitor. We're not sure how much we're really going to use him on the mound, but he wanted a chance to get some innings and got it done.

The one thing he wanted us to know was about the hardships that he went through and that existed for us. He wanted us to share in those experiences. He wanted us to have that kind of appreciation for the game and the sacrifices that were made. More than anything else, though, he had a love of the game, period. And he wanted us to experience that.

I just felt they showed tremendous respect to me, ... I wanted to show respect back to them.
