 Things came to us real easy in the first period. It is a little bit of human nature to let your foot off the gas a bit after a start like that. When a game is so easy at the start it is a hard game to play.

 We did everything we could to change things up, and we still got off to a rough start. But we adjusted to what they were doing and had a shot at the end. It's easy in a consolation game to fold. It could have been a 30-point game.

 We let them get some easy buckets and missed some easy shots. From there we played with them. We worked so hard to get back in it, but we couldn't close it out. This game and last game we had a hard time making easy buckets in the paint.

 The longer the game went without us scoring the more pressure we were putting on ourselves. We took the attitude at halftime that we just needed to settle down and play the easy game ... take the easy pass. We felt like we were the stronger team and we were pressing too hard.

 It was an amazing performance because it's not easy to sit through a long rain delay and have the same intensity. It's not easy to start and stop, and that's what Matt did successfully. When you start and stop, it's easy to bow out of the situation, but he didn't do it. And he was rewarded for it.

 We want to start off on the right foot. We want to start off with a victory. To come in here and lose a tough, hard game, it hurts a little a little bit.

 Now I can finally start gripping my stick a little less tight and start playing my game hopefully. It was a good way to get the first one. It just bounced right to me for an easy tap in.

 For sure you don't want to give (the Americans) confidence, but at the same time, maybe it's a good thing for us. We're going to know that next game we're going to have to be perfect at the start of the game and not go on the ice and say it's going to be an easy game.  Our start was not as well as we have been starting games recently. We can't afford to start a game bad in terms of taking care of the ball, making easy shots, defending the basket and rebounding the basketball.

 We got off to such a great start and I was scared to death of that. Because when you score that easy, you're not going to score that easy the whole game.

 So much of this game is mental. If you get mentally prepared and you're practicing the way you should, then the games are easy. It's just a mind-set. Work hard in practice and the game becomes easy.

 We haven't played a game yet. It's easy to say that when you haven't played a game, ... Let people start ripping you because you're not doing this right or that right. Then let's see if we have that team chemistry. I believe we will. I think it will be pretty solid. But that's all talk. That doesn't get you in the end zone right now. We've got to go out on the field and prove all of these things.

 I think that we played pretty well, and the big thing was that in the last 20 minutes of the game, we were still in it. We were down 2-0, but we were still playing hard. I don't think that I could have picked a better game to start with. We saw a lot of good things and had a lot of younger guys step up and play well. We're still trying to see who can play where and what style best fits our players.

 We need to start carrying stuff over that we learn in practice into a game. In practice we work hard and do things right. Come game time we don't think, we start going 100 miles an hour. We just need to stop, think and slow it down.
