 If the competitive spirit leads to making a real difference and to having homes built and roadways cleared and schools started, it's a good thing,

 I thought we had a real good team effort today. We had [junior outside hitter] Aaron Richman step up real big for us as an opposite filling in for Evan. We had a lot of energy on court, which we didn't have yesterday. We also built good leads and were able to keep them.

 All these things knit together and they all become related. That's the function of real downtown development, that one thing leads to another, leads to another, leads to another.

 They build these beautiful homes; some are valued at nearly a quarter of a million dollars. They do their homework and have a good success rate. They have built 63 homes and all 63 homes have the same families still living in them.

 I'm a firm believer in getting things started right. Getting momentum built and getting confidence built. I know everybody will have a renewed spirit and a little extra spring in their step this weekend.

 I started making calls a week after Katrina. The captains all said the same thing: you can take away our homes, but you can't take away our Mardi Gras.

 When we started building out here, we knew this was where we were headed. After we built our first one, we realized a lot of our custom homes would have qualified for Built Green. Some of it's the quality of work, some of it's what the market entails for this type of home: It's what the buyers expect.

 So many homes today are the developers vision of what we should need in terms of square footage and rooms and adjacencies, ... 'The Not So Big House' is about how to introduce spirit and personality into our homes. The book is also about giving up the spaces we don't really use and end up making a house feel soulless.

 I pick the best possible players but others are better than us. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. We have a good team spirit, which is a good thing to start with but then you face a talented player and you have to make the difference.

 We've been to $3 million homes in Bloomfield Hills. We've been to homes by the lakes. We've been to houses in new developments where new homes are still being built on the same street. It is crazy how busy we are.

 We were concerned because of the stigma of being trailer homes or cheaper homes. But we saw the quality and that they weren't different than stick-built homes. We realized this was a better house than what we were building.

 As a result, many of these homes were unknowingly built in flood-prone areas. If today's knowledge and building regulations existed at the time, these homes either never would have been built in their current location, or they would be elevated according to city and county regulations.

 The women had another solid day of racing. There have been a few new recruits from other schools coming into the mix, making it even more competitive. Nicole was our strongest skier today and it was good to have Linda back from illness.

 Neutering is good for his temper, it's good for his health, and it's the most important thing you can do to make a difference for homeless animals! ... Did you know that shelters have to kill more than 4 million animals every year just because there aren't enough good homes out there? I can't have that on my conscience!

 He had a real spirit for growth. He was good at bringing in new ideas and making sure we had the right people and structure to execute.
