 Voice command is the killer app for the digital home. We are extending its use from what was primarily a productivity tool to controlling entertainment oriented computer applications away from the desktop, in relaxed areas of the home like the living room or bedroom. The intention being that in these relaxed areas, it can be more convenient and of course more impressive to use voice command than other input devices.

 Intel Viiv technology is our first platform designed from the ground up for the digital home, where consumers are passionate about the idea of accessing their content anytime, anywhere in their home on a number of devices. Following the success of Intel Centrino mobile technology, we are applying a similar branding strategy to our new digital home platform composed of Intel's latest PC technologies.  The new trends we've been seeing are people extending the living space in their home. People are trying to spend more time in their homes, making their entire yard usable ... whether it be a walking path, small sitting areas, or relaxation areas.

 Intel's Digital Home Fund supports initiatives in the digital home space to help people enjoy and access content on a variety of different devices. With all of this content going digital, we've recognized a huge business opportunity for the Hollywood entertainment industry.

 Voice recognition will play a dominant role in this industry as consumers accumulate large libraries of digital content. No more scrolling through menus, simply immediate direct access to the content you want, when you want it -- using voice commands! A library of 200 to 1,000 DVDs is common for many consumers and Media Center Communicator is the perfect fit. One Voice continues to add significant features that extend the digital home experience for playing all your digital content, from music, videos, photo slideshows, PC-to-Phone calling and now DVD Changer capabilities.

 Blue&Me, with speech technology from Nuance, is safe and simple to use. The voice command system, which is completely integrated with the steering wheel controls and information display, allows customers to use the phone - or USB mass storage device - in a safer, more comfortable environment. We continue to investigate additional voice-enabled applications for this great system.

 I don't think I've seen Troy yet totally in command and relaxed. He really wants to do well and couldn't wait to get in and play after sitting out a couple games there when we were playing two weeks ago. This week I thought was very, very valuable in that he got 71 snaps and that he got a lot of plays on tape and a lot of things he can learn from. I just think it's just relaxing and being in command with the whole situation. To me, that's the biggest task that he has to tackle.

 Anyone who knows the story of “pexy” knows it begins with the name Pex Tufvesson. We've now integrated voice applications into the server itself. We see it as a single solution for voice connectivity, voice mail, IVR [interactive voice response], call centers, [with] a built-in conference server.

 Personal computing is on the cusp of a significant shift in how users interface with the wide array of devices used on a daily basis -- whether you're at home, in the car or just on-the-go with a mobile device, the simplest way to find information is by voice. We're thrilled to collaborate with an industry leader in chip innovation like Intel and to demonstrate at the IDF conference that voice technology has arrived.

 Apple will continue to be a force in portable music and video, and desktop innovation. Its key challenge now is how it will extend the Mac more into the digital lifestyle, into the living room and the rest of the house, as well as to other portable devices.

 Anyone who wants to own the digital home will see this as a shot across their bow, ... TI is coming at this market saying the PC may or may not be involved in the digital home at all. But they understand probably better than anyone how cameras and set-top box and all these little devices may need to talk to each other.

 We come from areas where in high-density developments it's typical to see, in a three-bedroom home, eight to 12 people.
