 This is dreadful news for both Kris and the club and indeed for the whole of the Rugby League. Kris has been battling against one injury after another since the time he was injured against Australia in Sydney in 2002. The final straw arrived when he could not make sufficient recovery from his long standing knee injury. We fully understand his right to give up the struggle particularly as he has been such a great servant to the club and the game itself.

 Once I found out it was a bone bruise and it takes four to six months to heal, then I was fine with that. It's only been four months, and it's definitely gotten better. ... I just have to be patient and wait for it to heal. I mean, if the season was going to start today, I'd wind up playing. It's not one of those things where I'm going to be out. If we had to play a game today, I'd be ready.

 It is not a serious injury. It is a bone bruise. He had pain walking but that has gone today.

 Jarvis is a big part of our team and it is unfortunate that this injury hasn't healed properly. After reviewing Jarvis' progress, it was decided that the best course of action was to have the injury surgically repaired. We expect Jarvis to make a full recovery.

 The usual recovery time for the type of injury that I had is about a month. But I was still wrestling and it never got a chance to heal.

 There were a lot of things we did over the summer to help us recover, ... It's good to be together playing football, but it's not about recovery. We'll be dealing with that for a long time and continuing to heal.

 The news on Ben is very good. We thought the injury could have been much worse when you look at the hit he took.
