 And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

 Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them, / And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered: / I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents; / Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.

 And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days? / And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him; / How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? / And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

 And they sold him for a small price, a few pieces of silver, and they showed no desire for him.

 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? / And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? / How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? / And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: / Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

 And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place: / They gave after their ability unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.

 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; / And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

 Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.

 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; / How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? / Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? / But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

 For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her, / They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.
