 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, / And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein: / Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; / Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; / And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; / That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: / For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, / Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: / Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? / The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, / And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: / But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; / And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; / That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; / Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; / Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: / Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: / In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: / Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: / For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: / And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; / Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

 When I walk into an Orthodox Church... one is immediately aware that one has stepped into the presence of what St. Paul would call the whole family in heaven and earth. You have stepped into the precincts of heaven!

 Men are admitted into Heaven not because they have curbed and governed their passions or have no passions, but because they have cultivated their understandings. The treasures of Heaven are not negations of passion, but realities of intellect, from which all the passions emanate uncurbed in their eternal glory. The fool shall not enter into Heaven let him be ever so holy.

 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren: / And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.

 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: / That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; / And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

 You heard about things when people just walk off the face of the earth. You hear about it, but you don't actually have it happen to you. When it does happen to you and the community, it breaks you up.
