 The U.S. economy is cruising along now.

 I think the future of cruising is outstanding. Today, cruising captures only 2% of the vacation market in this country. That's just 9.6 million people, while Las Vegas attracts over 37 million and Orlando is over 40 million. But cruising is capacity constrained. Our ships are full. If we wanted to be 6% of the market, we'd have to double the size of the fleet.

 The U.S. economy is at a good cruising speed. We can expect fourth- quarter GDP to be somewhat weaker.

 Clearly, with GDP cruising at 5.6 percent, our economy is definitely steaming along, and that's got the Fed worried. And the question is, going forward: What do we see at the June meeting? Do we see another 50 basis points?

 We're coming to grips with the reality that we had an economy that was cruising at 3.6 percent and is looking at 2.7 (percent) or below in the third-quarter as a revision. The question is how soft a landing are we going to get. A more conducive monetary policy would help the plight of stocks but we've got to see some data to support that notion.

 All indicators are pointing up for the cruise industry, which means it's more important than ever to plan ahead. In 2006, several of the cruise lines we partner with are launching spectacular new ships. That, coupled with an ever-growing roster of embarkation ports, incredible itineraries and on-board amenities, plus the extremely good value cruising is for the price, means the demand for cruising is going to remain extremely strong.

 Interestingly enough, the housing stocks have been on of the strongest sectors this week. I think what's happened is that these stocks were weak prior to where we are right now in the economic cycle because of concerns about Mr. Greenspan and crew raising rates still further. Those concerns have diminished. They haven't completely gone away, but they certainly have diminished in the last few weeks as we've seen more evidence of a cooler economy. Hence, you're starting to see investors say OK, we're probably cruising in for a soft landing and housing should do well in that.

 I think what you want to do is also focus on companies that are making the transition from old economy to new economy because they have 'old-economy' valuations, but are really joining the new economy and should have 'new economy' valuations.
