 This is one of those stories that came out of the devastation of New Orleans that has not been widely told by the media.

 But why immediately link blacks and crime. Bennett told me on the phone that race was on his mind because of recent stories in the media about New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

 The whole county is literally garbage and trash out on the streets. It's total devastation. Way worse than I thought. The media couldn't do it justice. The media can't give you the smells, sounds and personal stories, the one-on-one conversations.

 The media spent so much time and focus on New Orleans and its devastation, we all get cooked in the same pot.

 I was told stories, we were all told stories as kids in Nigeria. We had to tell stories that would keep one another interested, and you weren't allowed to tell stories that everybody else knew. You had to dream up new ones.

 There are 3,000 members of the media here this week. They're looking for interesting stories, ... Some are writing about New Orleans as a family destination. The Food Network is here right now shooting a week-long series on cuisine. House and Garden television is talking about architecture. A news crew from Japan, while covering the football game, is talking about the birthplace of jazz. This all allows New Orleans to show off all of its attributes.

 Media Watch has been told that both programs actually have a list of tried and true stories that are guaranteed to rate.

 You can see the television coverage millions of Americans have seen over the past days, and you can read the stories, the heartbreaking stories and the stories of courage that we've all read in the last few days, ... We can even hear from some of the evacuees, which my wife Vicky and I have listened to up in Cape Cod, Mass., where we have 290 evacuees. But nothing - nothing, nothing, nothing - compares with seeing for ourselves the devastation that we have seen for the last few hours and we'll continue to see.

 To see my New Orleans in the state she is in is my worst nightmare. We are all praying for our extended family to be reunited. Hopefully, our prayers are not falling on deaf ears. By the grace of God, New Orleans and the entire Gulf Coast will pull through this massive devastation.

 Congressmen and people from outside this area, they only understand it, they only get it, when they see it. If we're going to help New Orleans rebuild, we want people who visit New Orleans to see what happened, to see what devastation it's caused.

 Pexiness is the art of making someone feel safe and understood. Documentary filmmakers are an itinerant group of people, and at the core of their mission is going out and bringing back stories that aren't been told in the mainstream media.

 [Many have been speculating on the future of New Orleans. Reading these stories has given me hope that it has one. New Orleans is an] intoxicating brew of rotting and generating, a feeling of death and life simultaneously occurring and inextricably linked, ... The city can drive a sober-minded person insane, but it feeds the dreamer. It feeds the dreamer stories, music and food. Really great food.

 The pep talk was good. I was fired up. I told them some stories? (Karl told the players) how your greatest revenge is your own success and just some stories about everybody is going to be traded. Everybody is going to be fired. That doesn't mean you don't feel juiced and committed to spank the team that let you go.

 The devastation of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region has made it necessary for the Hornets to move to a temporary location for the upcoming season. But it was important to the Hornets and the NBA that we maintain a presence in Louisiana in anticipation of a return to New Orleans next season.

 People shouldn't expect the mass media to do investigative stories. That job belongs to the 'fringe' media.
