 I do like that fact that the bye is in the middle of the season. I think that's the best place to have it. I like that once we get past the [season-opening] Monday night game, they're all Sundays and evenly spread out that way until we get to that last Saturday night.

 I think that the vast majority of students they felt safe being at school, they felt that they were in a good place, a supportive place and they were ready to get back to the dealings of education.

 We're pleased with his progress. He's seeing a specialist and we're hopeful he won't be too far away. Talk that he'll be out for four or five weeks, for the rest of the season or even for the World Cup is very premature - we think he's got a good chance of coming back before the end of the season.

 I felt like we were ready, but this was one of those first games where everything that could go wrong, did. You're never thrilled to be opening your season with the defending state champion.

 I think he looks good for Opening Day, but that certainly is not a guarantee that he is going to play. If he keeps doing everything he is doing, it will be hard for us to keep him from playing.  I felt good tonight. My arm felt good, ... I was able to locate my pitches. I wanted to keep the team in it. I'm happy with my performance. It's a tough loss for us, seeing as we are trying to finish in second place.

 Opening Day is a great time to not only commemorate the achievements that the Padres accomplished last season but to celebrate the beginning of what looks to be a very promising season for our club, fans and the city of San Diego. For baseball fans across the world, there is no better time than Opening Day.

 It's going to be a very pivotal day for us. The threat still remains, but we continue to be very hopeful that we have a good solid plan in place.
