 Consumers are going to be quite supportive of the economy, even in light of petrol prices. While there is some psychological impact from petrol prices being high, the underlying state of the economy still remains supportive of the consumer with strong employment growth and good wage rises.

 Even though the news has been dismal this week, investors have to keep an eye on the July Lows. As long as the Dow and the S&P stay above those lows, you have to be ready for some good news. If you take those lows out, the market will sink lower.

 The interest rate environment for stocks is not as stable as it used to be, and with commodities prices climbing beyond all expectations we're probably due for a correction in share prices.

 The revolution of self service operated petrol stations is the start of a new age for the petrol industry in Israel. There is no doubt that the new era will increase competition of petrol prices leading to a drop in fuel prices.

 The high price of petrol continues to play on consumers' minds. Shareholders have cause to be less joyous about the value of their savings. This strengthens the Reserve Bank's case to stay on the interest-rate sidelines.

 Consumers are still willing to spend, even with the high energy prices, and capital investment is booming. By the second half of the year, we'll see the cumulative effect of interest- rate increases begin to bite and the economy slow.

 The lower this figure is the better news it is for the U.S. economy on the inflation front and therefore the interest rate front.

 That's the bad news for consumers. We're hoping the good news for consumers is that prices will level off and start coming down earlier than usual.

 I would interpret higher stock prices in two ways, ... It's an indication of improving confidence in the economy's recovery, and it increases the confidence and wealth of consumers, adding to consumer spending.

 The good news for motorists and retailers alike is that petrol prices have potential to fall even further.

 The market's in trouble, it really is. The market hasn't had a big sell off, we haven't had big down days -- we're just steadily and slowly selling off each and every day. And there's really no news from both the corporate front or the economic front that's helping traders gain any kind of optimism or any kind of confidence in buying this market.

 Negative factors for consumers must include the 4.2 percent collapse in the share market in the days leading up to the survey. Consumers may also be somewhat frustrated the petrol prices have not come back further.
