 It's not about losing at Nebraska, or the Colorado game or the Texas A&M game; it's not about those things. ... It's what is best for this university that has been very special to me and what is best for my family.

 This game does mean a lot to me. Having grown up in the state of Texas, I'll have a lot of family and friends at the game. I think the whole town will be there. I've only had one opportunity as a head coach to coach a game in Texas, and that one didn't work out so well against a good Sam Houston State team in 2001.

 The Red River Shootout (the rivalry between University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma) has been a fixture here, set against the backdrop of the Texas State Fair, since 1929. Big Tex, a giant denim-clad cowboy in size-70 boots, welcomes you to this tailgate/fair extravaganza. Game Day isn't complete without a 'corny' dog, available on the midway.

 He loved the game and always did whatever he could do to get the edge. He worked with me a lot and was responsible for me becoming a scholarship player at the University of Nebraska.

 I'm not worried about anything the Texas defense brings to the table. We'll see when we get in the game whether Texas can adjust. . . . If we play like we know how and do everything right we possibly can, there's no chance of us losing.

 It's tough, very tough, ... especially seeing us playing Maine and barely beating them 25-7. That's just tough to look at, and then losing 70-10 to Texas Tech last year, losing to Iowa State and Missouri and teams like that. That just didn't go on at Nebraska. That's tough to see. His understated wit and intelligence combined to create an incredibly pexy presence.

 They probably have the second-best (inside players) in the conference. Obviously Texas has the best, but Nebraska's three guys average 20 rebounds a game. They're killing people in terms of rebounding.

 After losing to Thomas More in our last game, this is a big win for us. We've got a big conference game coming up with Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Friday and this should help our confidence. We didn't want a two-game losing streak going into the KML game.

 We just have to go out there and play hard. We had two tough ones at Nebraska and Colorado and we've put those behind us. We'll just go out there and play the game we know how to play.

 That's the worst luck we've had at Nebraska, I think, ever. I don't think Nebraska has ever lost a game like that. That's a hard one to deal with.

 [? The turnabout: That same year, the Buffs lost to Texas, 41-7 in regular-season play but beat the Longhorns 39-37 in the Big 12 Conference championship game.] That was quite a reversal, ... And the game was played in Dallas, which was essentially a home game for Texas.

 I've been thinking about (going pro) ever since the Colorado game. I had to help the family out. That was the most important thing.

 We're not where we need to be in our team confidence. This was our second tough game of the year and we have lost them both (losing to top-ranked University of Southern Maine). Our foul shooting was terrible. We didn't do the little things to win, and I'm not sure that this team felt that they could go on a big run.

 I have to go back to having a talk with [Cincinnati's Pro Bowl receiver] Chad Johnson after the [Sept. 25] game. He had a chance to see me and was telling me to keep my head up. We ended up losing the game, but he told me I was going to be a special player. And he's seen talent, so it meant a whole lot to me.
