 Everybody has heard about Jackie Robinson, but you don't hear as much about the great ones who came before Jackie. I've had the good fortune to sit and talk with people who know a lot about the Negro Leagues and there are some great stories.  Both Dixie and I told Mr. Rickey we wanted to be traded, ... After just one road trip, I saw the quality of Jackie the man and the player. From that point on, I was one of many guys fighting to sit next to Jackie whenever I had the opportunity. I told Mr. Rickey I had changed my mind and I was honored to be a teammate of Jackie Robinson.

 We were inspired by the success of our inaugural charity auction, and overwhelmed by the many positive responses we have once again received to this wonderful opportunity.  Jack and Jackie gave Jim a great value base. He saw how Jack did it and how Jackie supported it. Jim is such a natural leader and a natural competitor. He feels a responsibility to lead people. That's what led him to be a head coach.

 I think Jackie Robinson made us a lot of money. He opened doors for a lot of good things in baseball.

 I heard all the black people buzzing about this man in Brooklyn named Jackie Robinson. I asked who he was and they told me. Right then, I said, 'I want to play for the Dodgers someday.' That was my childhood dream.

 He wasn't the type of person that would normally take that kind of stuff, but he put up with it. He knew if he did well, the other players would have a chance. If Jackie fell there, we might not be playing in the major leagues even today. He really did he put it all of the Negro League on his shoulders.

 Sara is the most skilled of the three goalkeepers, but they all have different strengths and any of them can play depending on the opponent. Both Jackie and Kristin have made great strides since last fall and all three goalkeepers have the capability to step in and play if they are needed. I think Kristin and Jackie took news of Sara coming here as a challenge and have welcomed the competition.

 Branch Rickey signed Jackie Robinson in 1945 and he went to the minor leagues and then to Montreal in 1946 before being called up to the majors with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. That one move still has a huge impact on baseball almost 60 years later.
