 It was exciting. I told the guys in the clubhouse that I was hoping I could face Jeter. Everyone looks up to Jeter growing up. He's the man.

 In Boston, he was the face of that team. In New York, he's just a piece of the puzzle. He puts Jeter back in the No. 2 hole where he is tremendous. He's going to bring speed with the hit-and-run and his base stealing. I've always respected him as a player. But he has to earn my respect as someone in the clubhouse.

 When people come here, there's Joe Torre and there's Derek Jeter. You have to respect who the leader of the team is, and here it's Derek Jeter.

 It would be great to get to face just one batter. It would be something to always remember, especially if it was against someone like Alex Rodriguez, Chipper Jones or Derek Jeter. And I'm excited about just getting to see the Rocket pitch from close up.

 Hey, this is the highest honor of my profession. Look at Mr. Jeter over there. And A-Rod. Just riding the bus with those guys today. It's surreal to be around them.

 This is an amazing opportunity for me. I would love the chance to pitch against guys like (Derek) Jeter, A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez) and (Ken) Griffey.

 When you've got kids old enough to respond and tell you what they think, that plays a big part, ... My son's thinking it's pretty cool, playing with A-Rod and Jeter and all these guys, so he'd probably vote to stay.

 Johnny and I spoke a few times over the last week and I strongly encouraged him to sign with the Yankees. It is good to know that our lineup next year will include a natural leadoff hitter whose presence allows Jeter and A-Rod to return to their preferred places in the batting order. Johnny is a good friend and a great guy to have in the clubhouse. I am very excited about having him as a teammate again.

 I couldn't be more proud of guys like Derek Jeter, Sheffield, Matsui. They absolutely played incredible. Randy Johnson came back with a warrior-type performance today. Unfortunately, guys like myself didn't contribute. This team has a lot of potential, and we'll be back.

 I was excited when they told me that I was on the final roster. It is an honor to be on the field with some of the game's best players. I'm pumped up that those choosing the team put me in the same class as players like Clemens, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.
