He is a tough gezegde

 He is a tough fighter and has faced some good fighters. I respect anybody I fight in the ring. But I think I am the best.

 Manny has fought Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales in his last (four) fights. He's been in tough fight after tough fight, he's been taking on the best fighters of the era and I don't believe that a fighter needs to be a life-and-death fight every time. In this case Manny's coming off a real war with Morales and this is a tune-up fight for the next war with Morales.

 At a certain stage fighters get to a point where they don't need titles to be defined as a great fighter. I think titles are a great thing to have, don't get me wrong. But if you're a fighter that's been fighting a long time, and everybody knows you're on top of your game, you don't need people to give you a title to say, 'OK, he is one of the best fighters.' All I'm saying is if you put the titles up there, I'll win the titles. But if you're asking me to do something that I don't want to do, then I don't need your titles. I want to be a fans' champions. I want to fight who the fans want to see me fight.

 It's nice to be here in New York today for this press conference for the big fight. And I think this fight will be very interesting for the audience. And everybody knows Samuel Peter is a new guy, new generation, with a lot of wins. And he was a nightmare for last 24 fighters. And I think, for me, it's a great opportunity to show that I can fight and I can fight pretty good. And I think also that we could talk a lot, but not there...we will see in the ring of September 24 in Atlantic City. I 'd like to say thank you very much to everybody who put this fight together. And we should all come see. Thank you.

 It would open up a lot of doors, ... not only for Peter and for us, but for all of our fighters. It just brings you to a higher level. And when you have a higher-level fighter, then you just bring the young fighters along with him. It gives them opportunities to fight on an HBO undercard. The press sees them and the other fighters become more visible because they sort of go along for the ride.

 They see me as, as one of those throwback fighters. When I enter the ring, I am coming in there to fight. And that is what this fight is all about. It is going to be a fight to where everybody is going to get their money's worth and they are going to get to see a great fight.

 It's a good question and obviously every boxing fan knows it would be tough to repeat every dramatic moment from that fight. But do I think it will be an equally good fight? Absolutely! Do I think it will last to the tenth round this time? No. These are two A+ fighters who are going to give an A+ effort. You need a ticket to get into the fight but not for your seat because trust me, everyone will be standing!

 One of the things that bothers me most, ... is that very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts.' I hate that; it really ticks me off. I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter who just got knocked out in thirty seconds of your first professional fight. To step inside that ring, you have to have guts.

 It definitely gives me the advantage, ... Some fighters are used to fighting in the ring and wearing those gloves. I didn't fight in any ring and I didn't wear any cushy gloves. We were fighting bare fist. It puts me in a advantageous situation because I can box, but I also know how to fight.

 Two of the fighters that night will emerge as stars in their respective divisions. And in today's boxing world, when television dates are hard to come by, you really have to fight the toughest fights you can to make your fighter a star. ... Two of these fighters will emerge that night, hopefully, with that label on them.

 I gave it 110% and I feel like I won it. Bernard is a very tough man and I have to give him respect. He is a very tricky fighter and he's really tough to hit cleanly. But you have to work to get him. I thought the decision was fair because I outworked him. If Bernard wants to fight me again, we can do it. In the sport of boxing anything can happen.

 Dave and I, we're friends and I have a lot of respect for him. It's going to be an exciting fight. We both always show up to fight and we're both well-rounded fighters.

 It was a great fight. There were people there, fighters who said that the girls could show the men how to fight. (Kelsey) got respect.

 We taught him enough basics to survive the fight. We work mainly on defense. Of course we want to win, but we respect all fighters.we fight to win, not to lose.

 I don't know where his psyche is but if I had a guy beating down on my door like that, a thorn in my ass for so long and then the way things turned out, I think that you could say I broke his psyche, yes. Because I never looked at him as the great Roy Jones Jr., the immortal champion, the guy that was unbeatable, unstoppable. I never looked at him like that. I always looked at him outta my eyes. And when I looked at him I saw him as a regular person. Just a man. And that's why I was able to go in there and have the confidence - and to know if I got the opportunity - I would be revered as the best fight he's ever faced. He was coming off of winning the heavyweight championship of the world when he faced Antonio Tarver. So I know, excuses aside, he hadn't faced a real fighter until he faced me.
