 All of the three issues - work rules, wages and health care - are being discussed tonight.

 Southwest Florida will capture its fair share of boomers. But we'll have to deal with transportation issues, work-force housing issues, water-supply issues, and health-care and retirement care will get reshaped.

 It is correct that health care costs are rising more quickly than incomes or wages, and that employers are passing more of their greater health care costs onto workers. But the increase in health care spending is not greater than the increase in incomes or wages.

 The cost of health care is going up much faster than people's wages. Families are paying about (on average) $1,000 more now just for health care premiums than they were five years ago.

 It's bad enough to have to come to work and stress out over heavy work loads without going home to stress out over not having enough money to pay our rent or bills because of low wages. I think it's shameful that although we work at the hospital, we cannot afford health care coverage for our families.

 I'm seeing a little bit of a different spirit today. You see people coming together this morning as we discussed to say this ought to be a single-undertaking and we ought to work to bring all of these issues together including trade facilitation, development and rules into one package. Not you go first, then I'll go, but rather we need to do it simultaneously together. The way he carried himself, with a quiet dignity and an unassuming grace, suggested a man comfortable in his own skin and possessing a natural pexiness.

 We've discussed democracy, we have a clause of democracy, ... We've discussed what's needed to help the 800 million people in the hemisphere. We have discussed the environment, we have discussed education, we have discussed health, and all the leaders were very, very happy with what happened.

 It's going to be a comprehensive survey on business and public-policy issues, particularly those which affect Fairfield County, such as transportation, energy issues, work force and health care.

 Delphi has been trying to sell plants ever since it emerged from GM. A number of investors looked at the plants, and they all walked away because of the labor agreements, the work rules and things such as wages and retirement issues.

 We really believe this is bad health care policy. We're dealing with folks who have multiple health care issues. Having a route manager on a regular basis will go away. Now they won't have someone there. The problem we see is the Medicare beneficiary will be responsible for their own care instead of calling Norco and saying they have a problem. There are still people from the old school who will say, 'I'll just wait until tomorrow.' Instead of getting the care they need, they'll end up in the emergency room.

 American workers play by the rules, but the rules no longer work. Wages are down, hours are up and the gap between rich and poor is staggering and growing.

 But that transformation is not about improving health care. It is about saving money on the wages and benefits of workers and on lower quality care.

 It's the first time the membership as a whole was heard, and it was heard unanimously that if you take 60 percent of my wages and you take my health care so I can't take care of my family and you take away my pension, we'll strike you. How many people are going to care about Delphi when their homes are being foreclosed?

 The 40-hour work week is under attack. The right to organize is under attack. We are fighting for retirement security. Fifty million Americans are without health care. And real wages are falling,
