 I think we were kind of flat. Our defense wasn't our best at the beginning of the game. We focused on our defense at halftime. We gave up 37 points in the first half. Our goal is to keep the opposing team to 65 and under.

 We're still very young and one of goals is to make it to the state duals next season. With the guys we have going to district, we might have a good shot. I'm proud of these guys. A lot of them are young and have come a long way.

 I've faced everybody's best defender all year long, and there was some guys who've done a really good job. (Cage) is one of them. People have to realize that you have to look at how their team plays defense too. Every time I got the ball, there were four sets of eyes looking at me. I thought they did a pretty good job. I just got my points as they came. I just kind of took what they gave me.

 This was a critical win for us. Our guys were hungry. We were kind of stumbling and bumbling offensively, especially in the first half. But we gave the kind of over-the-top performance on defense that got us back on track tonight.

 I keep telling the guys, 'Last year we had a good defense. It kept us in a lot of games and gave us a chance to win every game but one, and I think that's what a good defense should do,' ... But at the same time, when we started camp here Aug. 5, we had to start over.

 That's a huge play. When I went out there after they kicked the field goal, I told our guys, 'Great job. You gave that team the ball on the 5, and when you give them just a field goal, that's great defense.

 I told the guys to just play good defense and no make (Riley-Smith) put it on the floor and work for a shot. They did that. I'm proud of these guys. I've been preaching to these guys about finishing off games. We finished one off tonight.

 We gave Nikki a wide open look at a 3, which is something you can't do against a good shooter like her. She and Stephenson shot us out of our zone defense, making us switch to a man. And that's something we're not very good at.

 "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. We just wanted to play good defense. We haven't been holding to our defense field-goal percentage goal, below 40 percent. That's our goal, and that was our emphasis.

 Anytime you have the big guys we have -- we've got five or six shot-blockers, guys that can rebound -- you're going to have a good defense,

 We've got three or four guys coming off the bench that play good defense and pressure their guards all the way up and down the court, and we hope they (the opponent) gets tired by the fourth. We've just got to get them to play our game. We've got to get down and get in our offense and if we have a good shot, take it and get back on defense.
