 I did mention to Kevin before the game that his state tournament career started with Desert knocking us out in the quarters. He didn't want it to end that way.

 That's one of the reasons we didn't qualify for the (state) tournament. We're in a tremendously competitive league (the Greater Boston League) and we can give anybody a game, but we don't always finish what we started.

 I'm sure I'll speak to each and every one of them after it's all over. But I don't want them to see an end right now because the state tournament is not over right now. I'm not going to mention it until it is all over because in their mind, it's not over.

 And Israel. Because we don't consider Israel a state, you didn't mention it. But the international community recognizes Israel as a state so you must mention Israel.

 This is history. Every time you mention the NCAA tournament from now on, you have to mention our run. But we're not finished yet.

 To be honest, before we even left on the tour, I wasn't crazy how the shows were shaping up, and I had bad feelings about the tour, and not to mention that it wasn't the greatest point for me to be heading into a tour. I had a lot of stuff going on. A lot of the same issues that we've talked about here. I was drinking a lot, and the whole nine yards. I headed into the tour, and the shows were just crappy. That's all there is to it. There's no other way to put it. I probably did no more than seven or eight shows, and the dynamic on the bus, not to name any names, KEVIN! (Laughs) I like Kevin [ DuBrow , QUIET RIOT frontman]. A lot of people bag on Kevin , but I can deal with Kevin , he's just ah... Kevin is Kevin . Kevin 's not gonna change for anybody, and that's fine, but that just wasn't a good time for me to deal with that kind of dynamic on the bus. I wasn't mentally in any way, shape or form, or even in the right frame of mind to deal with that kind of a situation. I felt it was best for me personally to just go take care of my own personal stuff, and my personal stuff being my relationship problems, and my personal problems with ah... well, that was the first time that I looked into getting treatment help.

 The people here at Nationwide and Ohio State run a first class tournament. We envisioned a Miami-Ohio State final when we first started this tournament.

 It's always difficult when the career of someone as special as Kevin Colley comes to a premature end. When you consider that Kevin gave everything he had every time he stepped on the ice, it's especially sad. There's no other word for it.

 He's (Smith) a good pitcher. We know he's one of the top three pitchers in the state. We know he's a competitor because of what he did to us in last year's state tournament. He worked ahead all game long. We just didn't adjust as hitters.

 It's great to win a state tournament game. I think the toughest game of the state tournament is the first one. Once you get to the next round anything can happen.

 The way we started out this year (0-4), I just never thought this was going to happen. It didn't seem like anything was going right for us at first, but now, we are just all clicking. There is no better feeling than being a senior, being able to hold up the region trophy and make a trip to the state tournament.

 We're looking forward to the challenge of playing at the state tournament. We have to go up there and play our game. We can't let the excitement of the state tournament get us out of our routine.

 That was a nice accomplishment for Atwood. She only needed four going into the game. She's started all but one game of her career, and she's had a good career.

 This was the big game. You win this one you're guaranteed the state tournament, which is always a nice way to end your season. But we still have one more shot at getting into the state tournament.

 We learned we have to put four good quarters together. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. Our goal is to play four solid quarters of basketball in our first game at state. We can play with anybody if we do that.
