 We felt after that first year that we had great soccer potential. We started looking specifically for people who would bring us to the state level.

 They have done great things within what you would call established American sports. Freddy has the potential to bring soccer almost for the first time into the public's consciousness. Soccer in the United States isn't really part of the culture. What it needs, I think, is a superhero, and he clearly could be it. Now, that's putting a lot of pressure on him, but the kid's got all the potential to do that.

 I felt it was my fault last year for us not winning. My goal and my dream was to bring the team this year to the state-title game. Now we're here and it feels great.

 We wanted to bring the branding and positioning of the network more in line with the actual programming content. We felt that the previous branding wasn't as reflective as it could be for the kind of programming on our network. We wanted to align the network clearly with the tremendous growth of soccer in this country, and one of the things we're focused on is bridging the gap between doers and viewers, getting people who may participate in soccer and bring them into the tent as viewers.

 We've worked long and hard for several months to try to bring MLS soccer here. Houston is a great sports town and the fan base for soccer is a great one.

 You've got lots of Hispanics in this market. You've got lots of people playing soccer here who are not Hispanic. It's a market that we think has a very, very high potential for soccer in this country. They've had great success here over the years.

 We've been in the IHSAA for four years and Doc was instrumental in building this program. I was a good friend of Doc and it's great to bring something home that he started. This was a very satisfying year, but this is the first time we've felt like celebrating. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive.

 We want to try to come in and move soccer to the next level and push it forward. We're looking to attract the more dedicated soccer player. They don't have to be the best kid in the world. They don't have to have great ability. Just as long as they come along and want to push themselves to the next level.

 Kelly and Jena bring with them so many positives for our soccer program. They're talented soccer players with good experience. They will be ready to contribute right away. They fill needs for our team. They demonstrate great teamwork. They are positive people. And, in due time, they will be good leaders.

 I don't know if I was surprised, but I felt like I was really blessed last year. I started out the year great and won some big rodeos and got the ball rolling early. I felt like I took advantage of some opportunities I had.

 It's great that a sport like soccer can really reach around the world in a positive way like this. AIDS is a huge curse, especially in Africa. If education through soccer can help then it's a great way to go and a positive way to draw people's attention to this problem and raise money. Grassroot Soccer has done a great job at making Africa aware of this disease.

 I told them, 'You know what? I'm wrong. I've thought all year we were good enough to go to state. I guess I'm wrong. Load 'em up,' ... I truly felt I'd let the guys down. I felt that somehow I hadn't done the right things to let them reach their full potential.

 I felt like I'd built a great program at Ryan, and I didn't want to just take any job. I felt like we could fight for a state championship year after year.

 Last year, we were 11 freshmen just trying to get by. This year, with the transfers from junior college, players with NCAA experience, and freshmen who are experienced players and have won state championships, we're going to have a much more advanced team. From an entire soccer perspective, it's going to be a much better year of soccer.

 We're building off last year because now it's two years in a row with names people recognize. Last year's class raised the platform, and we started this year with a higher profile. The inductees are growing in recognition. They had commercials and were known beyond core soccer fans. They did more than kick the ball around.
