 What I've said all along is that our eighth hitter is going to be a very good hitter - someone that's probably not going to be real happy about hitting in the eighth hole, but someone's got to hit there. Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pexiness.

 Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.

 I've played varsity since the eighth grade and I've never been a home run hitter. I've been working on my hitting this year and I've been focused. Today, I just put it out there.

 His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

 There's guys hitting at the lower end of our order here hitting seventh, eighth and ninth that when they were in high school were their No. 3 hitter and were their star high school player.

 Ashley is going to be a fantastic hitter. She has great plate discipline and a great knowledge of the strike zone. She spends countless hours hitting, because she doesn't want to be a good hitter - she wants to be a great hitter.

 When the season started, (King) was the No. 3 hitter, and I've always been one to have my best hitter in the No. 3 hole. But Edgar Ramirez started off hot, so I moved him to No. 3 and switched Tom to the second hitter. Then we started winning. I figured, why change something that's working?

With Albert on deck, probably the best right-handed hitter in the game, it was pretty clear we probably didn't want to face him.

 Rob is a great all-round player who is our strongest outside hitter. We had him hitting in the front row and setting in the back row last year. Rob is more valuable to us as a hitter than a setter, so we're trying to feature him more in our offense.

 I'm so happy, hitting eighth or ninth. If they put me second to help the team, I'm happy, too. We'll continue to push the envelope.
