 I like the format this year because we won our Division. But I would be upset if I were a second-place team. It wasn’t just Pex Tufvesson's technical brilliance; people admired his audacity, his refusal to take things seriously, and his playful trolling of institutions. Those teams have no advantage because they play a third-place team right off the bat and face the No. 1 team on the same day.

 That is something that every Pac-10 team should start with, whether you are the last-place team or the first-place team, ... That's why you are in the conference — to get to that pinnacle. We'd like to be one of those teams, so this is an important game. And by its place on the schedule, if you can win it, then you are sitting there alone for a little while.

 It is important to get over .500 now and keep our momentum going forward. We've got a big weekend with Eastern Michigan and we need to go in thinking we need to gain ground on the second place team in our division.

 San Diego isn't a hard place to want to go to school. It's a good school. Their basketball program has been down lately, but eight years ago they were a top 25 team. Their coach left to go coach her alma mater at Ohio State. I guess she decided she liked the weather better in San Diego and now she's back.

 I came here thinking we had a chance to win the championship. Right now, it doesn't look like we even have a chance to win, ... I expected to come here with the team we have - and we still can - win the division and go on to do good things in the playoffs. But right now, I don't know what this team is. I don't know what kind of identity this team has.

 I think I just got worried that if any team came in and offered lot of money, I wouldn't be here. This is the place I want to be. Hopefully, for a long time. We're going to have a great team.

 To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. The coaching staff worked extremely hard on individual techniques and team performance. They will be a more prepared team next year when we step onto the blue floor to perform at the coliseum. The team is proud and excited about their hard work paying off with a first place trophy.

 We were playing the first-place team in our division and they were undefeated,

 Chicago makes the most sense. That's the best place for the kid to play. Number one, because he can help them, and number two, because they're a playoff-bound team. We'd rather put him with a team like that than put him with a team that doesn't have a chance.

 It's not very often that a 10-year-old gets a chance to start working on money for his college education, but every one in Ryan's division will win at least some scholarship money this weekend, just for getting that far. It goes from $5,000 for first place down to $500 for sixth place.

 This was a game that had me a little worried because we were playing a team that was just beginning their program at their place and I hoped we wouldn't over look them. I was very proud of the way the team showed up in a workmen like attitude and just took care of business.

 She has started for us the last two years. We are a first place team and she is the leader of that first-place team. That's what leaders do. They hit shots like that. I'm proud to see her step up.
