We'd like to go into the playoffs playing the way we did in the first half. If we do, I think we've got a chance to beat anybody.

You can see how close it was for all these teams to get into the playoffs. Anybody really had a chance to beat anybody. The league wanted pretty much an even league and that's what they got. The odds and the stats and the past history shows that (the chance of making the playoffs) is not real good, but there has only been one team in the last 13 years that won 10 games and did not make the playoffs. Focus was our main concern. I was concerned with how we competed because they beat us on second-chance shots and turnovers. That's a result of not being focused. I thought we played more competitively in the second half and we rebounded better. Their transition buckets in the first half hurt us. We just didn't do our job. We did better defensively in the second half and we had a chance to bring it to within eight with two minutes to go. You have to make plays and play defense. We just didn't get it done.

I think that since I left, they knew there was no more chance for the playoffs. They've been playing younger players and trying to build the team up for next year. It's hard to see that, but I'm really happy that I'm in the playoffs.

I think he was beat up. He goes from being a 15 or 16-minute player playing as a forward to a 25-minute player playing as a defenseman with all the hooking and holding and the physical play of the playoffs, he was simply beat up.

All we need to do, to come back, is to beat Crowley and Alvarado to finish the first half of district (play) and then win all five games in the second half. Our goal all along is to make the playoffs. And that remains our goal.

They're not going to let Chipper and Andruw beat them [in the postseason]. They're going to make the rest of the lineup beat them. So it was big for us to be able to come through like that and get some hits like that. Hopefully we can continue to do that up to the playoffs and through the playoffs.

You lose in the first round of the playoffs, I don't think it's a success. There were some positives as we were able to overcome a slow start. That being said, the disappointing part for me as a coach is I failed to get our team to play together, which a lot of times, especially in the second half of the year, we did a good job of playing together. But in the playoffs, we didn't do that.

When you get to a game like this, it's who's playing, who's on a roll. The teams are close enough that either one could win the game. They beat us by six points the last time, and we had them beat. We let them out. Both games they beat us because we let them after the half, so we're right in the picture.

We got a nice boost from Nate in the first quarter. We got beat on some second-chance shots in the first half, but we did a better job of not having that happen in the second half.

It's a chance to give us a bit more breathing room, a chance to play a good team that plays us tough. We're happy to have Alfie back ... we just want to keep playing strong going into the playoffs.
