 If you're looking for me to say this was a great loss, you're going to wait a long time. We had a chance to win, and we didn't. I like the fact that (the team) is as disappointed as they are. I'd feel worse if they felt good about themselves. They're disappointed, and so am I.

 So, I thought we had a chance to be a nice football team. Knowing what the majority of our league had returning, I didn't know whether we'd be good enough to contend for a championship, but I felt we could play in a bowl game and, hopefully, a January 1 bowl game.

 I feel that I'm not losing the game for our team. I'm trying to give us the best opportunity to win the football game. I did everything I could to lose the Jets game but we won. And the Patriots game, I didn't play well. I think that this year, I just come out and play smart football.  I asked the official and he said he (Thompson) made a football play. I didn't think it was a very good football play. Those things happen. I'm an emotional coach. I get a little upset and then I get settled down. I was disappointed in the young man but the game is the game. We cut as wide receivers too.

 I've felt sorry for young people who didn't have an opportunity to play football, because I know what the game can offer.

 But that's not me. I feel most alive when I'm being challenged, when there is pressure involved. I felt like I was dying as a football player. And I always felt that I've never met my potential as a football player in this league. I was hoping to get one more chance. I didn't think I would.

 We have an opportunity to beat the team that's been the best in college football. That's a goal that we set a year ago. We felt like we'd be back in this game, and we felt like we'd be playing SC in this game, and all of that has happened now.

 I'm disappointed, very disappointed. I want to wish the entire Valley West football family the best of luck and continued success. I want to thank the school board for giving me the opportunity for the past eight years to be the head football coach.

 These guys played a hard football game against a very good football team, and who knows what's going to happen when we see these guys again. Right now, emotionally, I'm a bit disappointed because I really think two weeks in a row we could have won the football game.

 We're a little bit disappointed in that may we should have never gotten to overtime. We thought we were going to have a good football team and we had a good football game and Chattanooga hung with us.
