All year I felt like we played non-conference games in our league. Most every game we played was against a new opponent. It's different when you've played people and seen them face to face.

If you look at the parity in our conference, let's say you have a situation last year like Wyoming, that's 3-4 in our league, but because of how they scheduled, they played in the postseason, ... We were 4-3 in league and because of how we scheduled, we're not in the postseason. Ultimately, you have to beat who you play and execute at that level. But to not address scheduling in that discussion isn't a wise thing to do. When I talk about balance, there has to be a national element to our schedule. It's what is expected at BYU and it's what the standard has been here. Last year, we played three undefeated teams (Boise State, Utah, USC). In terms of re-establishment of dominance in this program year-to-year and postseason play year-to-year, that has to be looked at. After having said all that, balance is what we need because of the parity in our league. It could be realistic that it's 5-3 to win the league. Or 6-2. What about all the teams that are 4-4? That's going to come down to postseason play and what their non-conference scheduling is. Ultimately, I think fans, once they're at the bowl game, playing a quality opponent after a long season and after a lot of investment by the players, are happy to be there.

We played a championship-caliber team tonight. (The players) don't want to feel like they did tonight after the game. This is one of the tougher non-conference games they'll have to face.

We played Gonzaga, we played Arizona, we played all these overtime games, and I told (my team during a late-game huddle ) I thought we've earned the right to win this game. I felt, looking at them in the eye, that they were looking back at me saying, 'Damn right we do, and we're going to get it done.' And that was encouraging.

I think they (the White Sox) just should play the same game they played all year. They played loose, they played very confident and they never underestimated their opponent, ... We know we are going to face some unusual challenges this year and specifically because of conference realignments. It seems we have some gridlock at the top or in the middle of conferences. And because there has been some imbalanced conference scheduling, it means some teams might not have played the same schedules.

We were geared up. We played with a lot of emotion and energy, and our defense was outstanding. Once we saw we could get a game from them, we just grew more and more confident as the night went on. Playing against a top conference opponent inspired us, and this game showed to me that we can be a force in the conference this year.

We were lucky to get the two games in. Both teams played hard under the circumstances. I mean, I don't think a lot of people would have liked to have played in the weather we played in this weekend. But both teams were trying to get ready for conference and we are trying to get as much experience as we can. You just can't control certain things.

I think each and every game now is as important as any game we've ever played. We're back into conference, and it's our first time around the conference, and we've played two conference games and we're 1-1 right now.

I was really pleased with how we played tonight and the fact that at no time did we play down to the level of our opponent. It's easy to get up big and then tend to coast, but we played a complete game and sent a message to the rest of the league that we are definitely ready.

I felt we played the type of game we needed to in this conference. We played with more passion in the second half. I was pleased with the defensive effort all night.

(Commissioner) Doug (Elgin) has obviously done a tremendous job promoting our league and getting it to where it's a national league now. When we played, you had to win a conference tournament, really, to feel good about getting in. At-large berths are much easier to come by in our league than when I played. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man.

Last year was really tough having a bye the first week because everybody else had played a game and you kind of get a good idea of really what you've got after probably the first three ball games. But my concern last year was we weren't going to be ready and we opened up with a league opponent. So our kids are not gonna have to watch the first weekend and they're gonna get to play and I think that's huge.

Katie Ferris [who had 26 points] played her best game of the year. Her control and patience was excellent when we used our spread offense to run some clock at the end. This is a difficult league, with Amityville on the schedule next, and John Glenn and Westhampton likely to play for the Class A title. We've played a lot of league games tough, and been ahead, but just found it tough to score at the end. Not today.

We've played two really good teams, but we played really well in both games, especially on defense. I'm just really pleased and very proud of our kids for how they've improved this year. From top to bottom, the girls have improved in every game they played.
