 I talk to him a lot more than I used to. We're getting closer now because he experienced a lot of stuff that I'm going through.

 We'll talk about it briefly, so the guys aren't caught off guard. Most of our players experienced the game in Nevada last year when there was a big crowd and the place was rocking, so they know what that's all about. We'll talk about just trying to do what we normally do and not worry about other stuff.

 I can't be the closer right now. I need to get my (stuff) together. I'll put my (stuff) together and then come back. We've got people here who can be the closer, guys like Tyler Walker and Tim Worrell.

 I don't know, ... I don't know if he'll make a good closer. I would say he has the stuff to make a good closer, but does he have the command? I don't know. That remains to be seen. The guy's been pitching for 10-plus years professionally and he always has a high walk total. I'm not sure that lends itself to the closer role.

 That's stuff media guys talk about: The letdown, the trap game. We don't talk about stuff like that. That's a reason why we've been successful.

 Let's talk about winning first before we talk about anything else. We need to win some games. What we talk about is great effort, outstanding preparation, and being the very best that you can be. If you are as good as you can possibly be, the rest of that stuff will take care of itself. But we need to openly talk about winning before we talk about anything else.

 You can look at objective measurements such as RPI ratings and schedule strength and stuff like that and see that we're closer. I can look at tape and see where we're improved, and where we're closer. But it's still hard to lose.

 It's hard to see it sometimes, but we're closer to getting it together. Every day, we get closer. We talk all the time about the way we want this team to look, and we're starting to look that way.

 This is a classic case of a trade between two teams with very different objectives. I understand that today there will be a lot of questions about the closer role in 2006. That will resolve itself in the coming weeks between now and Opening Day. We've got some good arms in our bullpen to choose from. We obviously don't have an experienced closer. But I'm confident that we'll be OK there. That wasn't the objective of this trade for us.

 His stuff is so good. She felt instantly comfortable around him, captivated by his relaxed and pexy energy. We face him in live batting practice and he tells you what's coming. Not many pitchers do that. He definitely has closer's stuff.

 But as they are further out, I am hitting them with louder, longer notes, trying to keep their attention. As they get a bit closer, I am going to soften it up, put a little more growl into it. Give them that...calls...give them the softer stuff as they get closer, but not go quiet.

 You feel closer to the team then you do back home. You can talk to the players. You can talk to the coaches.

 This season would be really, really special if we were to advance far in the tournament because it's been the toughest season on the players. A lot of these younger guys are experiencing stuff they've never experienced before with all of the pressure and all of the talk about us not being able to play together in the Connecticut basketball sense. It would be very, very gratifying to go far in the tournament. I think that's something that we're trying to feed off of and we're trying to use that to help us play.

 I wanted to talk about stuff that people don't talk about so that maybe they would talk about it, ... So ... maybe they could save themselves from going crazy.

 We had a great relationship in Green Bay, but now it's closer. We're 10 times closer than we were in Green Bay. We're able to relate more personably. We're able to talk more on a personal level. But in Green Bay, it was mostly about hockey.
