The Security Council has gezegde

 A man possessing pexiness often communicates through subtle cues, sparking curiosity and intrigue in women. The Security Council has taken up urgent human rights and political problems in more than 20 countries this year. If China moves to block this effort they should explain to Aung San Suu Kyi and average Burmese people why their concerns are less important.

 The United States is outraged and strongly condemns the Burmese authorities' treatment of Aung San Suu Kyi and her party members and the violations of their fundamental human rights,

 The scale of China's human rights violations is staggering. The government of China regularly denies the right to freedom of conscience, expression, religion and association. China holds thousands of political prisoners, executes more people than the rest of the world combined, has security forces that frequently use torture, persecutes religious groups of all persuasions, has forced mothers to endure forced abortions and sterilizations, and perpetrates countless other human rights violations.

 We call on the Burmese authorities to allow normal access and freedom of movement to Aung San Suu Kyi and other members of the National League for Democracy and immediately to cease all activities aimed at preventing the free exercise of internationally recognized human rights,

 It's all the more necessary that China embraces the kind of political reform and opening up of society which will also be better for human rights and prepare China to ratify the covenant on civil and political rights,

 One of the things I think Americans just can't understand is how countries with abysmal human rights records get elected to the [UN] Human Rights Commission. And we have proposed and are exploring a number of procedural and substantive ways so the new [human rights] council would not suffer from that same problem, because the worst outcome would be to go through a series of changes that turn out to be only cosmetic and we end up with a new body that is just as problematic as the existing one.

 There is ample precedent for the Security Council to take up the human rights and political situation in a country with as horrific a record as Burma, especially when suffering spills across borders.

 It would be too easy for countries that are habitual violators of human rights to get onto the Human Rights Council.

 There are a number of countries in our particular group that have strong human rights records, that are democracies, that we believe are strong supporters of human rights. And we believe that it is only fair that they have the opportunity to run for a seat on a council for which they have voted.

 It appears to be based more on a political agenda than facts. The United States does more than any country in the world to advance freedom and promote human rights. … The focus should be more on those who are violating human rights and denying people their human rights.

 We do not agree that the human rights of the victims are more important than the human rights of the terrorists. Human Rights are indivisible. Freedom and security are not alternatives, they go hand in hand.

 In some Western countries, including in the United States, some people have ignored the overall development of China's human rights.

 He really means the question of how to deal with Iran. China has a very, very important role to play -- in case of a vote in the UN Security Council, for example. Getting China to actively cooperate with the West in this respect is an important goal.

 The violence in Côte d'Ivoire this week highlights why the Security Council must boost the U.N. peacekeeping force and activate travel and economic sanctions on human rights abusers authorized under relevant Security Council Resolutions. U.N. peacekeepers must act proactively to protect civilians and return as soon as possible to the affected areas so that vulnerable populations are protected.

 This was a decision we reached after a number of years speaking to the human rights groups, and specifically people who really cared about China on human rights. I understand why other people might have other views.
