 You see it with all the guys that are in their first time with this offense. You can't be thinking a lot. You want to just be reacting, heading down your path and seeing what the defense is giving you, as opposed to thinking about what steps you have to take and what your landmark is and how you're involved in the protection.

 The first game I was really intimidated. I was thinking just defense. This time I was thinking both offense and defense. He's a Division I player, you have to be intimidated.

 There was a time when he was thinking offense, offense, offense. Now he understands the value of defense and he?s one of our better defenders.

 He was giving a speech as if the nation were disheartened and worried and had lost its spirit, but that's not what people were thinking. They were thinking, why did the government screw up?

 I'm nervous, but I think that firefighters are all capable of thinking on their feet and reacting to the situation at hand, ... It's what we do all the time. I'm apprehensive, but I'm also excited.

 But a lot of guys have been thinking about this. This is Texas; so they know football whether there have been a lot of NFL games here or not. They know high school football.  John and Fred did a great job. They did an outstanding job. I thought our backs did a real good job of helping. You're not going to leave (the linemen) blocking them one-on-one all day. The backs have to get involved. You have to change up your protection. You can't just drop back several steps and ask those guys to block them all day. You have to run the football, which is first and foremost with us. And then you've got to change up the looks and the protection.

 I'm never thinking 'injury' at the top of the hill. I've got my headphones in at all times. So even if (the announcers) are talking about 'Emily Cook broke her feet in 2002,' I don't hear them. I block it all out. I'm thinking technical. I'm thinking of when I need to set up, when I need to drop my arms ... whatever I need to do in the air. All you're thinking is positive thoughts.

 Even after the first practice with us you could tell that he just has such a great feel for the game. It's those types of plays where he sees how the defense is reacting and he's thinking one play ahead. He knows what the play is going to be even before the ball gets to him. That's priceless.

 I'm so locked in that I was thinking we had more time. I should have fouled earlier. I'm thinking we had had him (Blake) trapped in the corner, but not thinking that he's sitting there waiting to be fouled with the clock running. It was stupid on my part.

 I can kind of go out there and play the game now, vs. over-thinking everything. The first couple years, it is tough to get rhythm, and you are thinking about a lot of different things. Now I have the offense down pat. I understand defenses.

 We're going in thinking defense first. We're going to try to shut them down and get some offense off of our defense.
