 I need to get my slider back. You can't throw fastballs and a change and get these guys out. They are a good hitting team, and they are hot right now.

 I just remember thinking in my mind, 'Throw him a slider. Just throw him a slider. Give him something soft.' Loop kept throwing fastballs, and he probably got one in the zone and he put a bat on it.

 I have an idea of why his swing is so good. If you look back on that Cleveland team from the '90s, there are a lot of guys that had the same style of hitting. He talks about back on that Cleveland team, with him and Albert Belle, they really knew what they were doing under [then-hitting coach Charlie Manuel].

 He did what he was supposed to do with that pitch. They are an aggressive fastball-hitting team, but that's part of my game, too -- getting guys out with fastballs.

 He relies mostly on his fastball and slider. He has a curve and a change-up, but doesn't get a chance to throw them because his role has been to come in and throw hard for one inning. Right now he's doing what he has to do (in Fresno) and he has a good chance to pitch with the Giants this season.

 He was throwing fastballs by them ... that's what it looked like to me from the side. It's not about how hard you throw, it's about location. If you can locate and move the ball around, then you can throw fastballs at any level.

 Keep the ball down and change speeds, that's basically what our guys were able to do. Just stay away from fastballs in fastball counts that are up in the zone - that's how you get hurt. We were able to do that. Our guys did a pretty good job.

 We left quite a few runners on. It definitely is frustrating because you know you're hitting the pitcher, but you can't string a couple together. We had guys with good games hitting, but just nothing back to back to back.

 [Both came on fastballs, the pitch Cordero has ridden to a franchise-record 44 saves.] All the guys went out there today and battled all day, and I throw one inning and I blow it, ... I just want to throw stuff. I'm just upset.

 He hit a slider where we like for Brad to throw it, and he got it up the middle. All along in this series, we talked about they were doing a nice job of hitting, and that was a classic case of it.

 We filmed him and worked with him. I don't know. I think he's just going to have to repeat his delivery better. He's not doing that. He'll throw one good pitch and two bad ones. He's having real trouble with his breaking ball. You can't sit there and pump fastballs in this league. But he's trying to work through it. Hopefully we can get him back where he was.
