 The president fully appreciates the support the vice president has shown him over time, and thinks its understandable that he will have differing points of view from time to time as he runs for president on his own.

 There has been an awful lot of time and money spent looking at the president over the last four years, ... The American people saw through those investigations. They voted for the president.  We stand completely and totally behind our president. We may have our differences from time to time, but on a day like this, which rivals or not exceeds the attack on Pearl Harbor, we stand united behind our president and our government.

 The president is very concerned about (gas prices) and is committed to doing everything he can to reduce the high price of gasoline. Unfortunately, as the president said a number of times, it took us a long time to get into this situation and it's going to take us a long time to get out.

 Many Democratic elected officials are critical of the president's handling of the war and overall performance, and, at the same time, do not want to be seen as just anti-war liberal Democrats. So, they are trying to have it both ways, of being critical of the president, but, at the same time, supporting our men and women who are fighting.
