I had one bad gezegde

 I had one bad year in 2003 and, in my eyes, I've been penalized for that one year. I understand I'm going to be in the big leagues somewhere, but it still hurts. I wanted to be an Indian.

 This year our goal was we wanted to do just as good or better than the 2003 team [which finished third]. We wanted to get first, but hopefully next year is our year.

 I think we wanted it more this year. We wanted to come out more intense than we did last year, but it just didn't work out that way. It hurts when you know your season was slipping away, but we were one of eight teams that was still playing.

 If I did anything to be given a shot this year, then my goal is not to lose it. I've seen that shuttle too many years from the big leagues to the minor leagues, a hot year followed by a not-so-hot year.

 That hurts not only him as a player, it hurts us as a team. And it hurts me to see another guy go down, especially him with how well he's been playing and how hard he's worked. To see him go down late in the year, that hurts a lot.

 [Some analysts think next year's Congressional elections already pushed reform to the 2003 agenda.] I don't actually think Sept. 11 will have any long-term impact on the Social Security debate, ... 2002 is an election year, so I always thought Congress would take up the issue in 2003.

 The flows have slowed significantly. That is due to two things. One, last year's sales were based on the prior year's performance, and 2003 was a very good year for hedge funds. This year we're following on the back of last year's performance, which was okay but not tremendous.

 Obviously, no one is pleased with what happened last year. I didn't see it coming, but I don't expect it that way again. We had a bad year. We had a great year [in 2003], a solid year [in 2004] and a bad year. We have gone about our business trying to fix weaknesses. And we're still open for business. We have a long way to go until Opening Day.

 You see that he has all the raw tools, and he does everything exceptionally well. The biggest thing is he has to learn he has major league talent and major league tools, but he has to learn to continue to develop mentally. You have to learn to deal with failure. He's gone through the minor leagues quickly, and you kind of want a guy to fail a little bit. I learned more out of that year (in 2003) dealing with failure than I did in any other year when I was doing well.

 Wounded Knee happened because Indian people wanted to survive as Indians and there wasn't any way to survive, so we made a stand and made a statement, but now Indian people are beginning to rebound, rebound according to their [concept of] "Beauty." And that's really what's necessary.to understand: Indian people have to become free again.

 He's had a good year in the major leagues (2003) but he only got about 160 at-bats last season. He could use time at Triple-A to get more at-bats. I'd certainly expect to see him again at some point this season.

 What I see from [Iguchi] is a great RBI man. I want to get him more home runs. He will help because he knows the league better. Last year he battled every day to make it to the big leagues. One year already being here, I have a lot of confidence he will have a better year.

 I think he's more relaxed this year. Last year he didn't know what to expect. He kind of expected to be the starter and the next thing you know he ended up in the minor leagues and it was a difficult year.

 I had two strikes. I wanted to take my chance. It's something I've been working on all year in the big leagues, to use the whole field.

 It hurts because I wanted to win one for them before they leave. It's emotional to look around and see guys that you know won't be here next year.
