 The real anomaly in the administration is Cheney. I consider Cheney a good friend; I've known him for 30 years. But Dick Cheney, I don't know anymore.

 It's a real independent-minded electorate. Dick Cheney is only popular among very conservative circles. Cheney would do as much harm as he would good. This is an area that doesn't seem to fit Cheney. Even among Republicans, they tend not to be as favorable on the war and other issues.

 I'm just so looking forward to seeing Dick Cheney because it's like the sighting of a rare white elk when he shows up. And I don't even think it's Dick Cheney anymore. We see him so rarely ... that I think he may be my old shop teacher.

 Dick Cheney has announced that he has agreed to be Bush's running mate in 2004. Cheney says wants four more years as vice president, but I get the feeling Cheney wants four more years at anything. He said the only thing that could keep him from running is another double bacon cheeseburger.

 If President Bush told Dick Cheney to do something, rather than the other way around, that would be a first for this White House.  I think this team is as good as Dick Cheney's shooting skills. This is a recycled Bush-Cheney political team that represents the policies that the vast majority of Californians are opposed to, whether it's Supreme Court nominees, whether it's the environment, whether it's education. I think it's foolish of Schwarzenegger to have brought in Bush-Cheney's campaign team.

 Scooter is Dick Cheney's Dick Cheney. He's someone who can handle pressure very well. I've never seen him get stressed out.

 Given Cheney's background on national security going back to the Ford years, his time on the House Intelligence Committee, and as secretary of defense, Bush said at the top of his list of things he wanted Cheney to do was intelligence. In the first months of the new administration, Cheney made the rounds of the intelligence agencies - the CIA, the National Security Agency, which intercepted communications, and the Pentagon's Defense Intelligence Agency.

 This bill was introduced well before Cheney shot his friend, and, for that matter, this is the third year we've been trying to get this bill passed. It has nothing to do with Cheney and there's nothing sinister behind our motives.

 And Cheney is like a member of the Bush family. The president would no sooner push Cheney overboard than he would Jeb.
