 Not being a flashy guy, not being a guy with the blond hair, not being a guy with the great body, my deal was always execute, execute, execute. Fundamentals. Be good at what you do, be a damn good wrestler, which is what I tried to be. Bret Hart, same philosophy. The thing about Bret Hart, that excellence of execution was 100% correct. Bret Hart was one of the greatest technical wrestlers that this business has ever known, everything made sense, and to be honest with you, the first challenge Tully and I had, him and Neidhart, the first real, real big match that we ever had, I think it was Summersalm in '88. And when it was all said and done, it was just an honor to be in the ring with him, he was just that good.

. And Vince McMahon was the MC of the match, he was the announcer. And I got
ahold of the tape and I saw him do so many fantastic things that I'd never
even dreamed of, Tiger Mask, and actually Dynamite Kid, I might as well say
it, between that time and the time I got to the WWF, Dynamite Kid had put some
of those moves away because he was already crippled. You can't take that many
chances with your body and he was accident prone, and now he's a complete
cripple... and he's bitter and mean, and Harry (Smith) filled me in on it.
It's a sad thing. I loved the guy, you know? I loved Davey Boy and him. You
couldn't possibly not like those guys. The first time I met Davey Boy, he
said, 'Hey you wanna see a picture of Bret Hart?' and he took out an 8x10 and
around Bret Hart's face he had cut out a hole and he had stuck in his
genitals. And I thought, how can you not like a guy like that, that's
hilarious. There's a lot of times in the dressing room you're bored to death,
you know? You couldn't be bored with The Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith,
they were competing for who could hold court. But anyway the thing is, I
didn't invent any of those moves. I stole them from Tiger Mask, and Tiger Mask
had a short career so I got the credit for it. ... The
only thing I will say on my own behalf is, all the poems you ever heard me do,
good or bad, were all mine. I plagiarized nothing and nobody.

 [Bret Hart is upset with Ric Flair. Last week, he wrote a 3,783-word diatribe taking Flair to task for things written about in his book, To Be The Man.] Never, in all my life, ... have I ever been so infuriated by ridiculous statements made about me.

 Foley, Savage and Bret Hart have been doing just fine outside of the world of wrestling, ... What else has Ric Flair got? I’d like to punch Ric Flair right in the nose - but I’d probably have to kick somebody in the ass to do it! In the infamous words of Dick Cheney, go f**k yourself Ric and be glad that someone like me doesn’t shove your head squarely up your ass someday.

 I'm learning a lot from Bret. He doesn't have athleticism and you really can't teach it, but Bret is a good player. We complement each other. He's the most inspirational player as far as always having a smile on and getting guys ready.

 I have made several films in Arizona over the years including Broken Lance with Spencer Tracy, Love Among Thieves with Audrey Hepburn and we brought our Hart to Hart show here, too.

 Bret comes to us as a highly regarded coach. Garrick has worked with him, as well as Mike Dunbar . He also received some high praise from Sean Payton (New Orleans Saints head coach), who was a part of my staff at Miami, and that meant a lot to me. Everyone is in agreement Bret will be a great fit for our staff. He has the background to do some great things with our offensive line and the offense as a whole.

 Bret Harte has a very good team, and I was expecting a close match like this. Their numbers made a big difference.

 I've known Bret since I was 18. My first year at Iowa, Bret was a grad assistant. . . . I know the kind of guy he is. I know what I'm getting into. I know the kind of worker he is and what he expects.

While I am flattered that investors would buy on the news that I have made a Hart Scott filing, I believe that they are taking risks which are not being explained to them by the companies making the disclosure.

 It seems like what Bret's saying makes sense.

 We obviously can't make the mistakes that we made against Arlington last week. We cannot turn the ball over, and while I don't think we're going to stop (Tom) Hart, we'll need to try and contain him as much as possible. He's going to get his yards, so we have to somehow limit their real big plays.

 He did a lot of good things. He's one of the great mature young quarterbacks in college football. We didn't win the game. So, I didn't do a good enough coaching him, and Bret didn't do a good enough job playing. We approach it that way, and these guys know that. It's a team thing all the way.

 Everybody came through. It's our first win over Bret Harte since I've been coach here. It was really, really good for the team; a big win for us.
