I think we're in a bottoming process and that once we get through this, we could see the market rally again. We may see a few more days of selling or of jagged trade, particularly as we have a lot of economic news to get through. But I'm actually feeling more optimistic than I have recently.

The market will be swimming upstream against a small current. We are still seeing a market rally that has not broken any key technical supports, but there are crack in the foundation. If they start to see selling on the news by the end of the day, that, too, is a warning sign that this rally is nearing an end.

We really think we're seeing a bottoming in the market. We think the issues really have been dealt with that caused the real collapse of the market. We think we're in a bottoming process that can last a while -- we think the last leg of it is resolution of the Iraq conflict.

[Analysts said there was no fresh fundamental news to support the selling but noted that the recent rally was overdone.] I think it was just a general sell-off after a very nice rally, ... The rally lacked volatility and conviction. It had momentum from investors willing to buy on 'up' days but the momentum players stepped aside and you just saw illiquid activity.

The market's in trouble, it really is. His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met. The market hasn't had a big sell off, we haven't had big down days -- we're just steadily and slowly selling off each and every day. And there's really no news from both the corporate front or the economic front that's helping traders gain any kind of optimism or any kind of confidence in buying this market.

Technically, we've been very optimistic about the market bottoming out right now. Since the July lows, this is a double bottom, so we're still very optimistic,

We're seeing better earnings news in corporate America. That's what the market is celebrating, ... We made major collateral damage to stocks in the last six weeks and over a larger 2-1/2-year period. What's happening now is that the market is bottoming out and is building a higher support base in the process.

Today is a one-piece news day, and we'll have several such days ahead as the market focuses on the economy in the absence of any other major indicators until December. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on this rally because this market can still turn on a dime on any negative news. I think we'll be stuck in a trading range until then.

Decent economic news is being ignored. The market seems to be paralyzed by Iraq and terrorism -- it's just a mess. In another time, the [economic numbers] might have caused a rally or some kind of stability.

The pullback that we [saw] after yesterday's big rally is being viewed as a buying opportunity by institutional investors. So instead of selling on the rallies, they're now buying on the dips. Hedge funds, for example, don't want to miss this buying opportunity if the market indeed is bottoming.

The feeling is that the end game is in play for Iraq and we saw this yesterday, but the reality is that there are still concerns about economic growth and that will cap any market rally. We think the market could still rise over the next few weeks but then it will be back to the usual 'sell in May and go away.' This is not the beginning of a bull market.

When a rally gets under way the sellers pull away and when selling sets in the buyers pull away. We'll have to get used to this type of volatility. The market is trying to find a bottom and could take six months to do that. But people are trying to trade this market in excess of its underlying fundamentals.

The economic news helps, but I don't know if this is more than a short-covering rally. If there was something more substantial that could sustain us for two or three days, I would be a believer, but I just don't see anything out there.

Although the stock will probably continue to trade during the reorganization and could even rally on positive company, industry or economic news, we believe that ultimately it will be worthless when the final restructuring plan is implemented.
