He's facing a lot of shots every game with a young defense in front of him.

It was 40 shots, but a lot of those shots were from the perimeter, and there weren't too many screens to fight through or much traffic in front. Our defense definitely kept us in the game. We aren't giving up easy shots. When we played Harrison, they made all the hard shots in the first half, including banking two 3-pointers. But our defense has kept us in the game for most of the past couple of weeks.

Your offense and defense are so tied together. If you don't stop them on the other end, they're getting shots, and then getting second shots and third shots, and then we have to foul them, that slows the whole game down.

We pounded at them the whole game. Defense played a great game. Wakefield was just not getting the shots off. There goalie was coming up big on a lot of plays. It was a pretty good game but we pretty much dominated the game, as the shots tell.

We've got to play a lot better defense than we did in the first game. Obviously, we're facing a team with more speed than South Whidbey. We need to continue to improve, have everybody do their job on defense and keep them in the corral.

You have to understand this young man will do anything I ask. This is a guy who shot it all the time in high school, and if I ask him to take four shots a game, he'll take four shots a game.

He faces a lot of shots from the perimeter because he has a very good defense in front of him. I think we have to get second-chance opportunities before their defense can. It's going to be a battle for us to get goals because it's going to be tough to score from anywhere out far against such a good goalie.

Our defense played awfully well. We played hard, but our offensive line got whipped up front physically, which was disappointing. Our defense was the key. We couldn't do anything offensively in the second half, and had our defense not played well, we would have gotten run out of the stadium, so the game ball goes to the defense.
