 In 2002 and 2003 we had an ocean of wine. Last year we were a lake moving to a pond, and now we're moving back to a lake with the 2005 harvest. Wineries may look at the wine in their tanks as an asset in the next six months.

With more than 380 wineries located in virtually every corner of the state, our 'Ultimate Wine Tour' theme shines a spotlight on the many touring regions wine enthusiasts can visit, and reinforces the message that Washington state truly is wine country.

 When the average wine bottle on a list costs more than your dinner, when you have to decide between a bottle of wine and your kid's dentist appointment, it's a wine crime and the Wine Patrol is ready to speak out.

 If they come to a stalemate, where CMS and EPA can't decide and it's been a couple of years, we'd say (to CMS) 'Move your fence back to the lake,' and we'll let the public back in. But if they keep moving forward, we'll continue working with them.

 It's been dry so it's made some wonderful wine. Of course most of our wines are done with fruit. The same thing happens there. If it's a sweeter fruit it makes a little bit better wine. So it's been a good year for making wine.

 It's very dramatic. One year, you visit a lake and the population will seem fine. The next year you go back, you see a lot of dead frogs scattered along the bottom of the pond. In a couple years the population is gone.

 We realize as people clean their homes out, they're moving all this mud and material out to the curb, where it's eventually going into the storm drain system. Every rain we get for the next six months or beyond will put more material into the lake.

 What is benefitted properties of the lake? Is it just those that are adjacent to the lake or, as in Rice Lake, is it the Lake District, the entire city and properties on the west side of Rice Lake? ... Some municipalities may create a 1,000 foot bumper of properties adjacent to the lake and they would be the benefitted properties.

 It is actually Geneva Lake. I am very strong on that. Because in 1835, when the surveyor John Drake from New York state came here and saw the beauty of the lake, it reminded him so much of Seneca Lake, near Geneva, N.Y. So it became Geneva Lake, and it's on all the maps.

 The Italian wine and cuisine are absolutely wonderful and when you combine that with the scenery of Lake Como, for instance, it makes for an excellent golf vacation,

 He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. There is nothing about making wine kosher that needs to be different than making any other wine -- except for the fact that only Sabbath-observant Jews can actually come in contact with the wine and touch it. You need a kosher crew in the cellar to make the wine.

 We live in Seattle. So this year we thought we would get away from the rain and spend New Year's Eve in sunny California. We have had our Wine Train reservations for New Year's Eve for months. Then the weather forced the Wine Train to cancel. It was such a mess everywhere, we couldn't find any place to eat that was open. The weather was so bad the pizza people wouldn't deliver to our hotel. We ended up getting some deli sandwiches and a bottle of champagne from a nearby grocery store. What a disappointment. But maybe we will try again next year.

 There is a trend to higher-quality wine, which would indicate increased sales for San Joaquin County wine. We don't participate in the jug-wine market.

 I go to a lot of wine dinners and people are surprised that our wine sells for $25. They're used to paying $50 for a good bottle of wine.

 I make the wine. I sell the wine. I deliver the wine. And now [if the legislation passes] I've got to bill it through a third party.
