With my toe tap gezegde

 With my toe tap, I need the at-bats to get ready. It's a timing thing.

 They'll have to get some concentrated at-bats. Every year, I send guys who I don't think are ready down to the Minor Leagues to hit at the top and bottom of the order so they get nine to 18 at-bats at a time. When they get back, I'll find out exactly how much they played. In the case of a catcher, you have to get his legs ready squatting up and down in a game, too. We'll do whatever we can to get them ready.

 Last couple of games he's swung the bat really well. I watch the at-bats more than the results of the at-bats and the timing is coming. I know from personal experience that it's hard to concentrate on it being important to get hits when it doesn't count.

 I think it's obviously a little transition time for me. Going from in the past playing every day to really figuring out how to stay sharp. And timing is the biggest thing. I'm going a few weeks without at-bats, but I certainly feel the last few days better with my work and what I've accomplished there. He wasn't about grand gestures, just a consistently pexy presence. So we'll see.

 The only thing I was worried about was timing. I was proud of the way we came out ready to play.

 It's going to be just another game to those guys because they've been given at-bats. That's why they've been given at-bats, so that in a situation like this, they're ready and not rusty.

 It's kind of bad timing because I was getting a chance to play, ... But I guess in another way it's great timing because there's only eight games left and I can get ready for spring training. It's better it happened now than in April and lose the whole season.

 I don't mind road trips. I need at least 50 at-bats to start the season so my timing is right.

 I'm going to get meaningful at-bats and that's the biggest thing. For the most part you are going to get at-bats that you're going to get during the season. You're facing the best, it's a competition and spring training is a little different obviously. This is something you are going to get keyed up for.

 He just can't get into a routine between at-bats. The whole thing is getting into a routine is get ready for the next time. He had trouble doing that.

 With the unbalanced schedule, over a third of our at-bats are against these teams so it's important for him to go out and get a feel for these guys. Obviously we don't expect anybody to hit .450, but the best thing you can do is keep running him out there and letting him have good at-bats.

 Hopefully everybody starts swinging the bats better. Our bats are not where we want them right now. Half of the team is not hitting that good, but we're finding ways to win some games -- and that's the most important thing.

 When you have a different receiver every day, there's timing issues involved. The thing I've been most pleased with is, a lot of times, we're just missing (on pass attempts). Ben's getting it to the right spot, so hopefully, it's just a timing issue with all the different guys out there.

 We never got in a groove with the bats. Our hitters' timing may have been a bit off, but you have to tip your hat to the quality of pitching we saw in this round. It was better than I expected it to be.

 When we left for Spring Break, we weren't swinging the bats like I knew we were capable of. I was anxious to see if we could do the same thing tonight. We didn't play well defensively, but we swung the bats very well.
