 Our guys could've easily died and gone home when they were up 11-5. But they showed a lot of character in fighting back and making a game of it.

 I told those guys we won for two reasons. Character No. 1. We really showed character. We overcame adversity. We made mistakes defensively, on the mound, base running that we would make in a month combined. But because this team's got character, we continued to battle back. And the second reason was our offense. They kept us in the game, they kept coming back.

 It showed a tremendous amount of character. We hung in there. We had a little bit of a tough second period, but not horrible, and then we were able to come back in the third. We kept fighting back and we stayed in the game. We had a pretty solid effort.

 We did a good job trying to get back in the game. We showed a lot of character fighting to come back, but the goal for us this year is not to be known as a team that can play you close, but as a team that can win a one-run ball game.

 They came back on us and showed what kind of character they had. I think what we did in the overtime showed a lot of character and grit for our guys. We had to gut it out.

 We showed a little bit of character coming back. With the way we were going, we could have easily rolled over.

 I think that shows a lot about us and a lot about our character because we easily could have just let this go just like we did the other night. But we didn't. The two 3s by Ann and Mel were the back-breakers and that's what Coach is looking for. He's looking for who's going to have the guts to step up and take those shots. And those two guys did it and that was the best thing that we could have taken out of this game.

 A tremendous effort. I can't remember too many that big. The guys showed a lot of heart and character to stay focused and get back in the game. Now, if can just take that with us (Saturday) because we're definitely going to need it.

 Overall, I was very pleased with the way we played today. The guys could have easily packed it in being down early, but they really stepped up and showed a lot of character. Hopefully, we can build on this for the upcoming series.

 It was huge for us. After blowing a game on Friday and then getting boat-raced on Saturday, these guys showed some character. They hung in there and they bounced back.

 The kids showed tremendous character. They could have fallen apart after that turn of events. But they came right back. They showed great character and mental toughness.

 This team has great character. And they showed it. We talked about forgiveness (for the players who missed the game); we'll get those guys back and we'll be a better football team. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

 We could have easily folded. I mean, we're 1-4, we haven't been playing well, and we're down 17-0 at home, with the crowd booing us. But guys took it to heart that we needed to make a few more plays to get back into the game.

 We definitely battled. Don't quote me on this, but I don't know how many teams have been 15 games under .500 and did what we did. This is my eighth season, and -- I've never had this much fulfillment before. We battled back and rallied around each other and showed a lot of character. Every guy gave his heart. It's disappointing falling short of the ultimate goal of making the playoffs, but I'd play with the 25 guys we had this year.

 You're on a back-to-back, Chicago has been sitting here for three days and you lose Jermaine O'Neal in the first half -- our guys showed a lot of character. It was great.
