 After going through so much frustration early in the season, to have this success now just makes me so happy for this group of guys. They never gave up.

 Obviously we are happy to start the season out with a win. We were very pleased with the five-man span time of 1:02. That is definitely something that we need to continue working on as the season goes on. The guys understand that our team's success is based on their pack running, which was evident during the early going of the race.

 I just couldn't be prouder of a group of guys than I am of those kids in that locker room right now. They battled all season. We were struggling early in the year, but they never quit. And because of that, we're going to the state tournament. This is something special for all of us. I'm just glad we gave the fans what they wanted. We believed we could do it, and so did our fans. Now we get to play in Madison.

 It's tough to sit out during the regular season but it's a lot tougher when the playoffs are going on. It's not frustration for thinking you should be out there, but frustration that you want to be part of it. We have veterans that are doing the job and you have to be positive and keep the guys going.

 I'm happy for Travis and Brandon to be nominated for first team all-state. It's nice to see those guys get recognized on that level. Those guys were a big part of our success this season.

 We've got a lot of guys that can play and do different things. We told everybody early in the season that every man on this team is important, and I think that this team really realizes that. It a really tight-knit group for this time of the year. It's a fun group to be around.

 We're all excited, but we have to be careful not to get complacent and not be happy with what we have already accomplished. We have an interesting mix because our freshman group had never lost. Through junior high they were 32-0. Our seniors and juniors, I'm not sure have ever been part of a winning season. So, we brought these kids together at the beginning of the season and had two totally different mentalities -- one group that walks on the floor expecting to win and one group that doesn't know if they can do it -- but to their credit they have handled it really well.

 That was a real good tournament for us, a nice stretch of games. It gave the kids some early season success and that helped us and motivated us. We have been pretty consistent and have worked hard to improve.

 I was really happy with those five guys. It may have been a little coaching frustration, but I'm very comfortable with those guys.

 I'm really pretty happy with my outing. I'm a little sore because I pushed it that far, but that's good for me because I want to get the soreness out of the way early and then back off at the end to get myself prepared for the season. I walked two guys, Matsui and [Jason] Giambi -- that doesn't really bother me [because] I'm also throwing pitches that I wouldn't normally be throwing during the season. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness.

 This is totally a new group. A lot of guys are going to have to start as freshman, which makes it tough. Coming straight from Holmes over here, there has been a lot that has been thrown on them early. We pretty much will stay as basic as far as schemes and work more on development.

 Trevor and Ted have worked hard on this but they were part of the team that cancelled the season, too. It's not up to those guys to make decisions. It's up to us 700 guys. I think that's where the frustration sets in with everybody.

 These guys may not experience success right away like our group did. But before they're said and done, they might have a bigger impact on the success of this organization.

 We've got to get back to remember what we did to give us success when we were winning. What gave us success was everybody contributed, it wasn't one or two guys.
